3-26kts + Nw - WSW Terrible Teralba, NSW, AU

 7.8m OD - RS4 111ltre - 39 cm C3 sting fin

 then 7m NCX

Had to be in the area so another get to know the RS4 session.. Aim was for safety with glory later when I know the board...Laughing

1st hr or so was wobbling around trying to catch a an occasional 100m gust to get going and seeing if I could wobble in in 3kts wind..tick...lunch and then it hit from the WSW- dead flat and the others raced for their boards and bore waaaayyyyy down into the bay..

I looked at and thought I'd be annihilated with the big kit so waited for the initial blast to settle a little and then out..I haven't really had the board planing for more than 300m up to this so it was brown shorts survival sailing with the 7.8m , big fin in 25kts wind!

I was going upwind just trying to not get smashed and Lyds was coming across my path . I yelled ' Out of control ..keep out of my way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' Laughing But he didn't hear...came in and rerigged the 7m NCX and back out..Whoa!!!!!!!!! still kamikaze ( 79ltre with 6 or 5m would have been good in the gusts Wink ).

Note to self - 7m sail - 39cm pointer and 111ltre board is WAY too much for a 65kg person in 26kts +..Laughing The board was well behaved . It railed right up but it didn't kick me off..Got the board PB 26kts without even bearing off.Surprised

Should have put the 33cm weedie on ( the next size down)..anyway had to be home early so called it a day.. Well I'm certainly finding out the extremes with sailing the board..I'll be glad when I get used to it and I'm game to bear off. Not knowing how it behaves off the wind I figured whimping was a better option than going over the front..Smile

It was actually good fun in parts.. The standout memory of the day was the railride..Smile

 Lyds , Jeff and Gert

If Budgy got that wind there should be some good stats from down there today.

RS4 RSS 7.8 Venom 36

One for the Teralba true believers today! Went from glass to 20-25 kts in a few minutes. Was pretty overpowered on the 7.8 but stuck with it. Had a catapult at just under 32kts in the chop that turned my insides into organ stew. Have never hit the water so hard, and I hit the water often. Definitely one for my highlight reel. Happy to break 30 with the big board, big sail combo. Dropping down a fin size helped I think. Would have liked to have gybed better but the chop took its toll. With Lyds, Sue and Gert.

Day 5 of racing day 7 at green island wow what a week.7 days sailing 600km.

I won the AUS GPS title but crazy close top 3. Kaleb and myself came down to today we were tied after day 4.

4th overall in slalom and second Australian just one point behind crazy close top 4 after 9 finals. My worst result was a 4 so very happy.

The best week just a great bunch of people and so well run a big thankyou to event organisers.

Well down Byron. 😀Sounds like a fab week of sailing with no day the same. It was exciting reading the results of each day, so so close, yes I was hoping Buzzy would win too (being fellow Taswegian) but you out shone. I hear you really train hard on your fitness. Certainly goes to show that your training all pays off because anyone that can sail that hard in both disaplines must be bloody fit!!
