2516 days ago Made it back from our south coast trip in time for a quick sail at San Sussi in the Epic Southerly. Unfortunately the conditions were a bit too bumpy for proper speed sailing, and the protected waters didn't quite get enough wind until too far down-wind, and the swell built up. The one time I tried the old speed bar, I got stuck in a 15min lull... urgh.
Good to sail with Robert, Den, and a few other keen sailers, kitters and jet skis.
Naish SP60 was fun and frustrating... Would probably have been just as fast on a 90L, but it was good practice. The little board did well in the impossible chop, leaning to windward like a kite-board for the upwind runs, slicing through the chop, but on one run the board rode up, jumped a chop and landed smack-bang in the middle of the next chop. Ouch, but no dramas, thankfully...! The board DEFINATELY prefers running off the wind!!!
Overdrive 5.6 handled the 15 to 35kts OK and the VMAX 31cm was pretty good helping me carve up and downwind.
Definately need to get further out of Sydney for 40kts... shame but seems the only way!
