evets (21500km): Lilacs M91SL pepeweed 27 TR16 5.9 0-30 kts sw to ssw tide intially low, it rapidly rose so flat water disappeared. I hand me arse handed to me several times. One run felt 28 knots, actual 37. and of course the reverse happened. Some huge crashes including one with board unexpectedly vertical in front of me, hit thigh hard on rail when I came down. I initially rigged 5.5 but decided not enough wind. I therefore put on the 5.9 and that was right ocassionally. A 5.0 would he been ideal for some of the time. Shane did well with some well controlled runs in the strong wind. I decided to do a NM and sailed to the south east end of the bay. Stepped off the board and something large swam between my legs hitting both calves as it went past. I sat on my board for a short while wondering what it was, the water was about50 cm deep and though I looked for it I could not see a triangular fin above the water. I sailed off as quickly as I could. At the end the tide had risen by about 30 cm, I was cold and the wind had steadied closer to 30kts. It was time to take what I had rather than risk hurting myself further. Nautical mile: from bottom of page to top, same as in an easterly but felt odd being on port tack. It was very choppy at the end of the run ( top of the image)

Shane121 (6794km): Albany, WA, AU Harding rd with Steve for early morning sail and it felt like a winter morning. Decided to rig the NP EVO6 5.0 sail didn't want to be over powered in the gusts. First run over towards yacht club way, the shit was out of control! Very choppy in the middle. Managed to get myself back to Harding Rd. A quick briefing with Steve decided we would head for the NM run to try and find some flat water. A couple of runs over there, some runs not in the harness. I think a bit of wee came out ! Bit of training for gusty conditions. Still had fun out there JP 101, NP 5.0, Decrepit weedy

Decrepit (54652km): More fun at Fangys than I expected when I set out from home. Wind didn't look that good here after lunch, but forecast said it would pick up, so off I go to Fangys. Already a full carpark at "the hook" when I arrive. Swindy's in to change down boards, a good sign, so I rig the 6.2 instead of the 6.6, plug into the recently renovated 53 with 20cm 55d filleted weedy. Only had a couple of short grovels, and a couple of very well powered gusts, most of the time it was a comfortable cruise in the smooth. Nice to see young Max in control and flying, I won't be surprised to see a PB or two when he posts.
Must go Dot has organised a night out!!!!

ratz (10868km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU looked a lot better than it actually was. only took the 7.8 over with me and though i would be overtanked but wind just didnt seem to have any grunt. in the end it just swung round to the east and died. nice to sail with john, noel and paul from the wannabees.
Mad Max (183km): Coodanup, WA, AU well that was a awesome sail thanks for the loan of the fin ross, tired but got pizza good to meet everyone, thanks for the tips mike really helped..
SluGger (13777km): Coodanup, WA, AU big drive to 2nd wind pik up demo 87 patrik , got back in time before the rd was shut, few!! Jonski (6717km): 6AM, Warp 7.0, Isonic 110 looks good off we go. 6:05Am oh crap how have I snapped a mast already GRR. 6:40 rerigged the 7.0 onto the 430 with a carbon 300mm extender and we are off again. 8:15 wow the wind is kicking in better rig the 6.3 8:30 and we are off on the 6.3 and the 110 isonic resisting the urge to bear away and go nuts. 8:45 where di the wind go? better get the big gear out. 9:15 186ltr Formula board with 8.6 overdrive and FF28 wind has really gone and im drifting :( plodded along sometimes hitting 22knts and cruising in long runs other times just drifting wind really cant make its mind up. 1pm, Found the reason for the lack of wind as there are a group of underemployed Mobbers hanging out at the hook Chatting about Ballet and Sparkles (yes really) joined them for a bit before deciding i might as well go back to plodding along on the Arc. 2:30pm finally some wind again and the 6.3 is still rigged so use this for a while but wind disapears again so switch back to the 8.5 but this time on the isonic with FF28. 3:30 and its become steady so i rerig the 7.0 and chug around for the final 2hrs. Really good to get to use the FF28 with the big gear and it holds it own really well hardly span out at all.
(Puf-) fin (15562km): Coodanup, WA AU. A nice sail in the afternoon sun and wind. It was a bit gusty so went with f2 SX-R58, the Ka kon6.6 and skirt wearing weedy 53/24cm, I dont use anything much bigger, unles there is no, or next to no wind. I may need to get out the 7.0 sail next time the wind isnt upto it.?? Well it was fun and good to get out on the weedy waters and see all having a good time, making the most of it.

fangy (22667km): I wandered down on Saturday morning at sparrows fart to see Johnski already knocking out the km’s. I decided I was sleep walking so went home and went back to bed. Attempt number two was closer to a decent hour of the day and I joined Jocelyn Swindystein at The Hook. I think he was happy but its hard to tell these days. I gave him a chocolate biscuit and he did a pretty good job of impersonating the Cookie Monster from Sesame Street. I did not have the heart to tell him he had pretty well missed his face with most of the biscuit.
Lunny arrived having just had new springs put in the Toyota to cope with the extra weight of his board repairs. I gave him a chocolate biscuit with laxatives to help with the weight problems. Then came a fanfare of horns and Sludge arrived. Complete with new Sparkle Rocket Launcher and a son who tried to hide in the glovebox for a few hours, hoping to sneak out when no one was looking and pretend not to know his Dad.
Sludge had a new board. It was very pretty. Obviously, we then need to eat more biscuits and admire the paint job.Things got a bit weird when Swindystein started talking about his love of ballet and tutu’s , but Johnski saved the day by coming in and telling us all to go home.
Flatchat turned up and at that stage I realised that my Pinna Proof fence was stuffed again. Just to reinforce the point, 5 kangaroos also jumped the fence and came bounding through the rigging area at full speed on a mission to get to somewhere else. Only in Australia.
That seemed to inspire some attempts at rigging and I think at that point Max oozed out of the glovebox and appeared a little distance away. It was only all the sparkles in his hair from the emergency show pack in the glovebox that gave him away.
I chucked in the Barge and Koncept 7.5, FF28. I then promptly managed to clip something on the way out while I was stuffing around with my harness lines and launched myself around the handlebars. Once I had my act together it was an iffy session for a while, but the FF28 meant I could plane easily and generally go where I wanted in a tack or two.
The breeze started to fill in a bit, and when Swindystein managed to keep point as high as me using a FF24 on the uphill run, I knew it was time to change fins. The breeze continued to be reasonable and I got a few runs down the inside on the Barge. Any day I get 34 knots on the Barge is a Top Ten right away. I even thought about changing boards, but as usual, I was too lazy.
More Manbra peeps and Pinnas keep arriving and in the end the place was buzzing with sails. Great turn out for such an average day. Eventually, I called it a day and went to find that Weatherman Sam had been busy putting “ Heavy, Use safe lifting practices” stickers on everything other than Herbie. It was a fair call, because by this time Lunny’s Prado has almost sunk up to the axles with the weight of his boards in the back.
Resident Coastal Nanna and funnyman Stroppo arrived and parked up all close and personal behind my trailer, leaving me stuff all room to get out. Blimey did we laugh at that one! I was hoping that I would see some revenge when the Piemaster decided to defy conventional physics and try to get going on his newly repaired toothpick board. I was very disappointed when he managed to not immediately stick to the estuary floor and then proceeded to show the us that board buoyancy is soooo overrated.
Johnksi was still going and when Windxtasy turned up for the night shift. More chocolate biscuits with Swindystein and then time to break the bad news to Sludge that it was looking likely that Johnski was going to be holding on to the Fangtastic Five Trophy in an hour or two. Sludge took it well even if his eyes were really just watering from a bit of sunscreen run off. Or maybe it was the fact that Max was had towelled up his old man with some great sailing…
Social engagements meant I had to leave, but not before I pushed a few doggy bags worth of dog crap up Remery’s exhaust pipe.
Big Top Ten Fangy Day…and monster effort by Johnski on a difficult distance day.

Swindy (10125km): Coodanup, WA, AU Pat SL115, FF24, SIM SCR 7.0 Great day at Fangys with the king and queen with many of their subjects and a few untouchables that had breached the barrier. The wind was a bit frustrating early on but this was eased with plenty of choc chip cookies from the kings pantry. The wind finaly settled for a while and ended up an enjoyable afternoon.
