Fangyland with a bunch of underemployed; Lunny, Mark, Tim, Sludge, Decrepit, Tomski to name a few. I got there about lunch and watched Lunny and Mark lay down an absolutely smoking run. It was obviously a day for the A-graders, so I decided trot up to Wamba Rd and set out my picnic blanket and spend the arvo on scones, jam, cream and a cup of tea.

Unfortunately, the peer group pressure resulted in me packing up the lace doilies and attempting to have a sail. Given the wind looked somewhere just shy of ballistic, I thought it was time to get out the Vintage Windtech freeride and have a play. My first few runs resulted in sphincter exhaustion. I had too much sail up and was longing to go back to my picnic. With a lot of experimentation, I found the sweet spot for the mast foot and started to get a little more comfortable. The FF24 was too big and not a good match but in the absence of an FF22, I wasn't game enough to try the FF20 in the chop.

While I was stuffing around, Cap'n Calm and Sludge handed out a few lessons on speed sailing in the chop. It was great to see the two them bearing off downhill, but I suspect Sludge was simply chasing rainbows again... By the end of the day, I was pretty happy that I have the Windtech set up close to being right, and starting to get confident in its handling. ( which is waaay more friendly than the vintage Windtech race board I have). All that remains is to sort out the fin requirements.

The numbers were again pretty awful, but bouncing along at an uncontrolled 30 knots, gets the heart rate up, so if nothing else it, was good exercise and good enough reason to call it a Top Ten Fangy Day.Laughing

Well that was fun!!!!!!!!! Didn't go as fast as it felt at times, but it was a BIG adrenalin rush!

Arrived at Wamba to find it nuking, would have rigged the 5.0 if it happened to be in the wagon, but only had the 5.4 so went with that.

Plugged the 20cm @ 47d into the new 48. (Was considering trying the swoody 18, but it looked a bit choppy for such a short fin).

OF course by the time I was on the water it was far from nuclear, just pleasantly powered up most of the time, went for some alphas, and managed to get wind lasting the whole 500m a couple of times.

There was the odd gusts coming through that had me well powered on the 5.4 but the chop had come up with it.

In hindsight I may have done better with the 5.8, sat out the really big gusts, and gone for it in the smoother water.

So very glad the 5.0 wasn't in the wagon.

I enjoyed the picnic at Wamba with Fancyman today. I must say, I didn't see an 'honest' lot of anything while I was there, but Sluggers falsetto singing is top notch. Reminded me of the Castrattii back home. I must go for a sail one day and puts some runs on the board.

Ohhh Jonski. I was only there for a small while but I could easily tell the difference between those two. Shoulda gone to Specsavers.

Also, I have seen Slugger at a lot more Kylie concerts than Decrepit.
