very enjoyable sail Lots of company even though many of them were pesky Pinnas.While he has gone to the dark side it was still good to catch up with Neil. 

Sailed into the shallows with the Fanged One and Neil watching . Once again I claim dismount of the day. Lost a bit of elbow skin but my surgeon thinks that he save the arm. Or alternatavely a bandaid should do the job.As I left the water I only just escaped the shark feeding frenzy caused by the massive blood trail . Or it may have been a convention of our finest banking executives. Or possibly a reaction of our hallowed waters to Boznium.

Fun session at Novara with Bob. First run across to yunbas was a bit underdone then the wind started to build. Had a couple of shocker gybes over the other side, must have got weed on the pointer in the shallows and took a while to get going again. In hindsight I should have done one more lap as the speed would have improved the hour quite considerably. Bob was a man on a mission and done double the distance of me today. Well done Bob, great sailing with you again, and thanks for showing me your local and introducing me the local totty.

Great to sail with Roger, thanks mate. Captain called for distance and Hr so I got down to Lumpies early, rigged and waited. Got some wind and knowing it was going to pick up away I went, under powered untill about 4km then in the drink, bobbed around like a cork for long time before I could water start and head back, one run 8km all up in an hour, good start ha.

Rog rolled up and was keen on an hour, his thinking long runs it wouldn't matter I corner like a whale, well I stuffed up miss understood hand signal thinking hour was done so I pulled up for a rest, hand signal was to say one more run, oops. Sorry Rog but good to see you got quality back up. All was good sailing wise untill it picked up and Rog took control giving me a lesson speed wise.

When the wind picked up my sail became a handfull, that with the 5 oclock sun in my eyes and knowing the ever ready pentioner was hard at it with the Slug I called it. All up a top sail and got to meet a very nice learner 

I better hurry so I can have a bean untill the Slug posts

The day belongs to Sludge, Firiebob and Cap’n Calm. Absolutely sensational effort to go for distance when the day started with such marginal conditions. Big respect fellas.

I tried one of Neil’s Windtech SB 64 matched with a Simmer SCR7.8 and FF24.

 The first part of the session was pretty ordinary and once again I was in Grovel Town for an extended stay. This was not made better by the infestation of Peskies on the hallowed waters. This was indeed enough for me to attempt starting up my inner Grumpy Old Guy, but then, in the mid arvo the breeze swung SSW and picked up. Things started to look promising again. Sadly, the rainbows and sparkles were short lived as all I managed was increased frustration as my rig got slower, not faster. 

I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. Eventually, I called it quits and went into shore. It was at that point I found the problem. I turned the board over and under the fin was a weedy moustache to make Merv Hughes’ mo’ look like a try-hard pubescent hipster. Perplexed as to what had happened I got in the local Jims Mowing to clean up the area, and then the problem was laid bare. The fin was a demo fin and the aluminium threads had almost been stripped. So after a couple of low-speed touchdowns and a heavy dose of Boznium in the local pond, the front gave way entirely and the fin was just hanging from out from the box, kept in place by the last remnant of thread on the aft bolt. In hindsight, it hadn’t felt quite right when I was inserting the bolts at the start of the session. I am annoyed at myself for sort of ‘wasting’ a session, but happy enough I did 30+ with the fin hanging out! No prizes for guessing why it felt so draggy…Oh well, chalk that one down to experience. I felt a bit gutted and ordinary when I gave Neil his board back, now resplendent with marks around the fin box due to my floppy fin wearing the adjacent area on the board. 

Despite that little blip, there were plenty of highlights. Apart from the massive efforts of Sludge, F-Bob and the Cap’n, personally seeing Neil come to grips with sailing here and bouncing around with big Smile on the Dial moments meant it was impossible not to be caught up in his stoke - it’s so infectious. Like Boznium but better good.

Impeccable timing was on tap from Basil the Landyachtsman. I was pointing out the shallow spot of the inside run to Neil, when Basil obliged by sailing into a decent clip and coming to a worthy cropper. 

Great to catch with Ricey after so long, and enjoy a good social atmosphere. No Flatchat to be seen…I wonder if that was the difference?

Regardless, a Top Ten Fangy Day yet again!

Nothing like a good nights sleep!!! No I'm half human again, (don't ask about the other half).

Wind was supposed to come in early, but of course it didn't. So rigged the 6.6 on the 65cm board with 21cm @55 weedy. still no sign of enough wind, (slugger was acting as guniea pig, and still barely moving). So I plugged the 6.2 into the 53cm board with 20cm@55 weedy.

Still nothing!

By then it was 1130, so decided on an early lunch, just about finished that and slugger started planning. So Boz and I headed out. Was good for a while, but then wind dropped again for almost another hour. Started to get too strong for the big stuff around 1500, so had a cupa and swapped to the 53 and 6.2.

This was just about right, a little overpowered at times, maybe the 5.8 would have been less tiring, but I didn't want to take the chance of more lulls.

Mainly kept my runs as square as possible without going into the chop, but couldn't resist the odd bear away in gusts.

All in all a great session, with great company.

  Well, that was a bit of fun in sun. Things a bit light to start with, so rigged the old Ka kon 6.6, the old 48board, with El55/18cm

weed fin with skirt.....   anyhooo it was fun. 

 I was scooting back & forth amongst the weed while the youngens were going the distance along the edge.
