Wind didnt seem strong from the shore but it was pretty nuclear in the gusts over the sandbank. Tide was very high so no flat water anywhere. Been a while since we had strong wind like this, so i was holding on tight to the boom most of the time.

Fun session at Boombas with Swindy, Fangman, Mike and a bunch of Pinnas, wind delivered but tide was high to start with so not the flat Boombas we have come to know. One small section of relative flat water behind some weed but you really had to time it for the elusive gust coming through. Got to fix my gear nboth main battens snapped at the end couldn't do anything about it so sailed with the broken battens. The hour was a lot of stopping and starting but happy with it considering wasn't going for it. The Pinna boys did well everyone having a bit of fun sending it over the chop, no major mishaps though I did see one small catapault from Mike I think.

Boombas after a false start. Was heading to Melville before a last minute change of direction and plans. Arrived around 9am to see plenty out already and for once Huey on forecast. Chose to go with a normal weedy after last week's scout indicated no abnormal weedbergs around. Unfortunately some of the flattest sections were behind a a mothership weedberg which had plenty of furries drifting away to catch the unsuspecting. Couldn't quite take advantage of this smoothnest so tried a few runs of the point instead. High tide made for a bumpy session but poor fitness was probbaly the bigger bogey. Noticed the tide was so high that fish were jumping onto any vehicles parked close to the high water mark. I think I saw one trying to jump start the Bozium express.

Some solid gusts coming through today. Good to feel some power in a smaller sail.
Also good to catch up with the Pinnas and MMob

The most impressive thing I did today was get up at the crack of dawn and be down at Boombas by 8.30. That effort was far outshadowed by Crimson Flash who by all accounts was already rigged up at the crack of dawn.
The wind we missed out on last week was all there today. The wind gauge was reading 15 - 23 kn by the water, so I rigged 5.4, but I was forgetting to allow for no strong wind sailing for months, and lack of sailing fitness, and I rarely felt comfortable. I suspect the wind was stronger out on the course. The Mandurah graph was averaging 23 - 25knots. My comfort levels were not improved by the icyness of the water. No sooner had I sailed deep into Boombas then my toes started to go numb and my legs started to cramp up. I decided to head back while I could still do so safely, but I had to stop frequently to give the muscles a rest, and it was pretty scary going at speed over the chop. Today I wimped out. Getting back in one piece was more important than speed. Never the less, I did have a few whoo hoo moments.
Note to self - it is time to get out the winter wettie.
The big guns were smoking and put in some courageous efforts to regain our #1 spot. Unfortunately the big guns were not the only things smoking, as a big fire, fanned by the strong winds, caused closure of a section of the freeway, complicating our trip home. Google suggested Mandurah Road, but I hate Mandurah Road, and decided to take the scenic route via Pinjarra and SW highway. Word has it that Mandurah Rd was like a carpark, so I think that was the right decision.
Well done, team, on a set of magnificent scores. I do appreciate your dedication and competitive spirit.
