Was blowin about 20-22 when I hit the water, but it soon cranked to 25-30. Way too overpowered on the 7m but decided to see if I could get some speed from the bigger setup. It was hard work but alot of fun trying. Very busy in the lanes but good later when most had gone in. Good to see Chris, Ant and Kai sending it over the shallows. Lots of grins.

A pretty nice day at Liptons. Had trouble timing the gusts for speed today but a few ok runs.

Liptons, Mistral 95, SV M2 6.2, Tribal delta 18.

A good session cut short by a high speed dismount in the shallows at Pt. Grey. Carbon boom broken in 3 places, harness hook bent enough to be unusable, broken top batten. Fortunately no injuries, except to the wallet.

Thanks to Lunny for sailing back and getting me a replacement boom, and sailing back with it clipped to the mast above his own boom. That's two rescues in two sailing sessions Lunny, this is getting to be a habit! Thanks also Elmo for the string needed to tie all the broken bits to the front deck of my board so I could sail back.

Rigged small in anticipation of the wind to go ballistic. Started off comfortably powered so went for an hour. Wind picked up late in the arvo maybe gusting up to 27knots.

Went for a few gybes which was tricky in the streaky gusts.  Glad to get a year old alpha PB even though it was a marginal improvement. Got back in at the end of the session to see Pacey's boom completely broken on both sides. Glad youre OK Andrew. A few Pinnas found the hard sand bank off point grey today. I opted not to use a delta so stayed well away from the smooth.

A quick blast with the regular Mobsters and a good turnout of Pinnas. Some enjoyable runs and chats whilst watching everyone blasting down the strip. Glad Anita your Ok as that was one huge crash at Pt Grey. Pacey I missed yours but seening the carnage - boom harnass etc, it may have eclipsed Anita's. Glad you made it unscathed too. Peel Inlet, WA, AU Manta 54 with 18 tribal delta then Mistral 41, with 21 superweed 5m Koncept. 18 kn building too 22 with 24 kn gusts

A big team gathering at Liptons, and a post Albany reunion for many with lots of camaraderie.

Very happy with the speeds! A second best 2 sec and 5X for me. Good to be up there with the guys for speed for once. Unfortunately I was also up there with spectacular dismounts in the shallows and have bruised ribs and whiplash. Luckily my $10 boom fared better than Pacey's more expensive one. My boom is still in one piece.

I started the session trying some alphas but it quickly became too windy. I did manage a 20 and a 19 kn gybe but they were too wide. I find gybing very tiring, and I haven't quite recovered from the two consecutive sessions in Albany, so I almost didn't head over to Point Grey, but I felt good speed was on offer so I made the effort to cross the channel. Glad I did.

Don't get many days like that so it was worth making the trip to Liptons to give the delta a go. Loved the feeling of thinking I could sail anywhere at pt Grey until I discovered the hard way that I couldn't. Happy to score two PB's, both nautical miles Wink Great bunch of Pinnas there to sail with. Thanks Andrew for the beer and thanks Lunny for always looking out for others and being the first to rescue somebody again.

Great sesh at Liptons.

Started on the WT64 + 7.0 TR9 + 33 Tribal WS.

Had a few good runs on this set-up and I was heading upwind at Pt Grey after a naughty run when I ventured too far into the shallows and ran aground.  I was only doing 22K, so it wasn't too catastrophic, but I did crack the nose of my beloved Windtech Cry and rip off a harness line.  Jury-rigged the harness line and sailed back upwind to swap boards.  Grabbed the Kinetic 90 + 27 Vector WS and got back into it.

The smaller fin and board was a better proposition anyway in the shallow water and thick weed, and after a bit of exploration I spotted a few crew doing runs off Point Grey, and went down to join them.

Had a pretty good sesh after that.  I got 3 x 39K+ peaks, just couldn't quite bag a 40.  Happy with the 5X, which makes it into my top 5, and rapt with a mile PB.  My last mile PB was 10 years ago!!

A nice 25K alpha rounded out a good set of numbers, so happy with my day out. Cool

Had to get off the water at 5, cos I went to see a Fringe show tonight with the missus, or otherwise I would've kept charging.

Also great to catch up with a bunch of Pinnas today. Smile

Wasn't out much. Started with 4.7 and had to downsize quickliy to 3.7 but wind picked up too fast. Even the guys had nearly the same sail size like mine but were giving up fast.

Thanks Craig. You are doing really well with rescues lately. I hope that is not a continuing trend.

Glad I inspired you to try for more speed. Not far off 40.

Pacey, you are getting 37's quite regularly now.

That 38 must be close.

You would think so Anita, I'm stuck in a rut between 37.5 and 38 at the moment with lots of peaks over 38 but 2s under 38. Was hoping today would break that jinx, a bit more water on Pt Grey would have helped in more ways that one.

Those plateaux can be hard to get over. I was on 34.999 for so long before I finally cracked 35 and then went straight to 36.

I liked Ben's question today "is 36 the new normal?"
