EDIT:
So got a text from woody the other day, replied with "0 chance". Then the forecast redefined "0 chance"
Hit the road at 2:40am after getting a solid 3 hours sleep, and on the water a bit after 7. Tacked upwind and went a bit far- right into the very shallow mussel bed to conveniently destroy most of the leading edge of my fin before I even got a run in (a touch of Déjà vu). I went anyway... the run along the bank was nicely powered (u beauty), so kept going and found a nice gust right at the end for a deep bearaway and a Albany PB (10s was 44.4)... for yet another touch of a touch of Déjà vu "first run is my fastest, should have got here an hour earlier". Sailed straight back to the top (hmmm- what angle is this wind?!). Did another run, felt pretty similar for first km or so but not much wind at the end, so pulled up- checked GPS and "39 peak". doh. NM records will not fall today. The N in the wind made it a lot gustier than previous sessions. Most of the time it was hovering in the 20s, with the occasional very short bullets to 30+. These were enough to feel nicely lit up, but not long enough to get consistently high speeds. No shortage of flat water though, and... it was so nice to be comfortably powered on small gear again! A rare treat. Made the most of it and headed off to get home before 9pm.
Good to do a mission again with great company on the water.
Thanks Albany!
