waricle (18975km): Albany, WA, AU. Mistral speed 95 koncept 5.0 fangy 18 early start, early finish. A good crowd of local and outsiders like me. Was undercooked at times and very comfortable in the gusts. A very pleasant session with great company. Gotta love Albany.
Shane121 (6794km): Albany, WA, AU Harding rd for quick sail after work . Great to catch up with some of the northern sailors JP SPEED SLALOM 55, HSM GPS 6.0, TRIBAL DELTA 18
Stretch (31360km): Albany, WA, AU. CA52/SCR6.3. Arrived late to a full carpark, so rigged up the other side of the Lilacs chalets. Tried hard to crack a 27 Alpha but simply not good enough, as Woody proved conditions were certainly good enough. Try again tomorrow did a bearaway about 100m out from the main parking spot and hit something submerged AGAIN at full pace. Went down hard, but thankfully no broken gear this time. Fairly sure it was the same object, buried tyre or something similar.
Morts (16110km):
KA Speed 5.7, Manta 54W + Tribal 16
Bit more wind today and funnily enough a mob of interloppers turned up! Snagged one good gust early on but couldn't repeat it, tried a few Alphas but couldn't quite get them right either. Was going to go out for a second try but noticed I'd somehow put a 15cm tear in the sail
Huge thanks to Rodney for the use of some sail repair tape to put a patch on it, legend!
Great to see so many out on the water enjoying the day

Elmo (31542km): JP Speed 54 & Tribal delta 18cm, Tabou Manta 71 & Tribal Delta 22, NP RSR E8 7.0m. Day trip to Albanakastan with the Hardy Fella. Rigged two sails and two boards today, one set for the forecast and one for what I thought was there, which I was half expecting to do a couple of runs with get spanked then come in and change down to some smaller kit. So started with the 71 and the 7.0, I faffed around trying alphas to start with then decided to tack upwind for the naughty, unfortunately the tide was a bit low so it was send it from the sand bar but first run low 343knot naughty with a slowdown to sub 30 3/4's the way down, some potential. So I did it again, got a mid 37 on the 71 so went in and plugged in the 54 to give that a tickle, ooooo very nice indeedy do! The 7m was on the money, a bit fun in places getting it up wind but a nice amount of grunt sending it down the run. Didn't chase peak speeds, what I got was done on the naughty. After my last naughty thought I'd quickly bang out a couple of alphas on the speed board. The last one was a pearler (for me) Awesome day, Thanks for the company Hardz, glad the back held up. Woo hoo
Hardie (35820km): Albany never quite happened as well as had been forecast with a lowish tide and thick draggy weed. For data base use the storm surge tide data showed an Albany tide of between 0.50 and 0.52 in the 2 hrs I sailed 12pm to 2pm. I would avoid that level of water in future. I was back to mere mortal level with my sailing today, whereas many excelled in the conditions such as my Nemisis Elmo, Woody Mortz, Boz, and many others.
evets (21500km): Lilacs Jp55Sl TR17 6.3 FF20 Fun hour with the crowd. Gybing better today on starboard tack. |
