Woke up to a text from Alby, 5:20 get on the water. it was strong and gusty, rigged my smallest sail could of gone smaller.

struggled to get to the top of the run where i met Alby Jonski and Bob, then it was try and hang on, need more practise for strong winds.

Hey FLATCHAT Tim I reckon you could of gone faster today mate BUT you need to be looking where your going didnt really notice your helmet was on back to front until i saw the gopro mount LaughingLaughing it was an early start Wink

Great catching up with everyone and big up to my crew in cottage 7 happy days

Albany, WA, AU. CA52/47, SCR5.8.   The bad: literally a few hundred metres from shore on my last run in I hit something solid. I went down hard, ripped my harness clean off, blew a panel in my sail and put a big crack in the nose of my board Yell.   The good:  an absolutely fantastic day with a huge roll up creating a great vibe. Plenty of PBs to come I reckon Cool

It was very windy in the morning, so I went to the afternoon Lilacs matinee after bingo some the purple-haired ladies.

Albany W A AU  Mistral speed 95. CA66, Koncept 5.0. KAR 5.5 fangy 18s Not the result I had imagined, had a big off early in the session this morning and destroyed my 5.0 Koncept. Too windy for the 5.5 and too timid. I waited for my cajones to grow back and the wind to drop but left it a bit too late. One of those days...

KA Speed 5.2, Manta 54W + Tribal 16

First sail with the 5.2 & I needed it today! Think I learned a bit as the day went on, got my best speed on my last run.

Heaps out enjoying the day, may get a bit more relaxing sail in tomorrow arvo.

Got a good view of Lunny's entry in the Stone Skimming Championships, not sure your body is supposed to be the stone though Surprised All good, he was laughing when I checked if was ok, crax4zy bugger!

Lilacs, Missile 49, TRXI 5.5 and Kestral 18 The early bird catches the worm. I got a serious case of FOMO at around 7pm last night so made the decision to hit the road to Albany. Left home at 8pm and drove 4 hours to south of mount barker where I pulled over and slept in the car. Woke at 4:30 and decided to make an early start meaning I was on the water around 5:30ish Great day on the water with the highlight of seeing a lot of guys I haven’t caught up with in ages. I managed a 25.6 alpha without playning out of the gybe! I will have a look at the bottom speed but I know it was very low and just shows how important speed across the wind is in order to achieve (I was hitting 33 going slightly upwind) Great to be a speed sailor again and looking forward to the next miserable, wet and wild day so I can catch up with everyone again.

JP SPeed 54, RSR 5.8, RSR E6 6.4, Tribal Delta 16 & 18.

Lilacs, hoped top hit it early so as to get the Naughty run before it got some north in it, Missed it by 20mins.

Wind was solid so I went out with the kiddies sail and the small delta, did a few runs but could n't get my head around the settings, so went back to base to change the fin and in a fit of madness plugged in the 6.4.

OK with the 5.8 I was fully lit in the bullets and just slightly less in the lulls (there weren't many of those) with the 6.4 it was lively till hit by the bullets then it was brown trousers time getting stood right up on my toes, somehow not managing to get spanked.

So after a few runs of this decided to go back to the 5.8

Towards the end of the session I finally twigged what I had done wrong, I'd shifted the mast track forward to hold down the nose of the board, this was what was causing all the issues.

Last runs were doing saw tooth squirts down the weed bank.

Great fun with a great crew.

Johnski and Stretch had it dialed today.

Huge congrats to all who PB'd

There you go, I'd say that'd be my worst performance ever with my GPS.

Hit the water about 7am, powered up easily to the mile start in one run and had a quick yack with Lunny as I do. A bit intimidated by the wind, watched the Lunster take off and did the same, holly shit, got the death grip and bounced out of my harness lines and couldn't get back in, scared shitless I was on a runaway train with no driver till big get off. Bugger, headed back up to start but confidence shot, did my usual yapping waiting to get my balls back, started another run and same shit fight and another get off, each water start was a pain because I kept running into thick weed before I could bear away. By the time I got to the end of the run all I wanted was to run home to mummy so I call it. Happy my beloved board survived although my fin and pride took a battering Laughing

It was cool to see so many sailors at the mile start so happy with a good story every run. Biggest grin goes to Slowy, cool watching him launch on his pool noodle speed board Cool

CA SL87, Tribal 18 Delta, 5.8 Koncept and a stained rubber.

So after overwriting my comments about 3 times, I'm ready for another crack. (If I can remember)

Started off with yesterdays rig, the 48cm board, 5.2 speed and 19cm@55d weedy. I only lasted 1 run on this, just too much board, fin and sail.

So changed down to the 43cm board 16.5@50d fin and 4.7 speed. This was much more manageable, but tide was a tad high, so a little more chop than I'm happy with.

Thought a bigger fin might help with the chop so changed to the 18@50d starboard assy. Helped a little with the chop was more draggy in the weed.

Had a long lunch to wait for the water level to drop, and went to the 16.5@55 fin. This was great in the flater water and much less drag in the weed. I was surprised by how drag difference there is between the 50 and 55 degree fins.

Another fantastic couple of days at Lilacs, with a great turn out, graced by the master's presence it's always nice to see that huge smile flashing past.

Albany Magic with a huge turnout. I missed the strongest wind and from what the mere mortals reported I'm glad as I probably wouldnt have been up to it. Morts fabulous PB, slowly creeping up. Remery welcome to the 30kt NM club.  I had one goal in mind and why I travelled 850km in one day for 60 mins of windsurfing. To crack 40kts at 60 years of age. Mission accomplished.Cool

Arrived at  9.30am ish, the place was buzzing, people were talking about getting blown off the water and the big guns were on 5 and halfs, but all stating the wind had dropped and was dropping. I punted on my TRX 5.5m Mistral Speed 95 and Pepefoil 21/48. First run 39.75 and I thought good choice its on. From then on the wind started to drop and next runs were 38/37/37/36/35/34 and the black clouds thunder and lighting started up, so everyone got off the water. Sat around and talked for half an hr and Strop showed us the radar image which looked like a small storm cell that was about to pass.

I decided to go bck out as the wind had picked up again. 2 missions one more go at 40kt@60yrs and one NM. I Sailed up to the NM run and the wind was picking up. Thought go for it, and I was over-powered the whole run sheeting out half the time, wind was about 30kts and squarish. I felt totally destroyed by the time I finished.  Had a rest. Let the Lactic acid drain out of the legs and went for a couple of sprints to crack the 40.  First run felt fast a low 39kt run. sailed back up the to start of the sprint zone and then a big gust started coming through and I got on and as I hit the flattest water I could see a dark patch of water with a lot of wind on it. I got onto it and yes I felt that extra push and massive surge and thought that must be 40kts, it felt really fast. If I'd had more water in front of me I wouldve kept going faster, but I had to pull out as the shoreline was approaching very fast also. When I reached a stop I looked down at the GPS and saw 40.59kts!! A massive fist pump followed and loud Yeehar and Woohoo, and I had achieved my goal 40kts@60yrs. The effort was worth it.

Fantastic team!!!! Stretch and Johnski totally awesome numbers, Alphas and distance were so far off my radar today, they might as well not exist. Allthough towards the end of my sail, I did think the conditions were fantastic for a top sailor to do an hour, the NM run was so square, you'd have an uowind leg around 30 and a downwind in the high 30s. But yoy need to be very fit.
