Sailquik (29582km): Lake George, SA. Back for another go! Good SE today, starting in the low to mid 20's and peaking in the mid to high 20's. Launched from Cockies. We were concerned that the rain might have made it too soft but it was fin (we were careful to stay on the edges of the lake) I but more water flowing in again but still only tyre sidewall deep and solid underneath. Srated in the 5.7m with IS80. Great fun, powered up and flying. Martins 20cm Delta Weed Prototype was great! Very safe in the chop and fast on the flats. Thw wind slightly increased and after 36's, 37's and 38's I f=inally got two good 39 2-secs in a row. So I went in and got the Mistral 47 with the techtonids 17cm fin in it to try. Pleasantly surprised with the fin. felt like the board was crabbing a bit when reaching and upwind, but held in very well, Iff the wind it was solid and I did two 40 2.secs on the first two runs. Then the wind seemed to start easing a gain and each run got slighlty slower. Very pleased wit the results. The M47 carries the 5.7m very well for me giving me another great speed board option in less than 30 knots of wind. But the most impressive thing is how well it hadles the chop. I felt perfectly safe running deep and fast trough quite large chop (between the flatter bits) when trying for NM's. Had some good long 37 knots sections but all the NM rund were just too short with sow bits at the ends. The 17cm WD suits this board very well whereas it felt too small in the IS80 which prefers the 21cm. Hope I got somr nice video. IS80L, then M47cm. Atomic Delta weed proto 20cm then Techtonics Weed Demon 17cm. 2021 KA Speed 5,7m. Mini Motion GPS.

Spotty (8858km): KaKoncept6.6, Mistral112, AtomicWW2/24 straight out and upwind into a hour with the interstaters off 5mile on their 7plus kit. Some ok wind funnels coming into the 5mile speedstrip and its distant relative on the opposite side of the lake. Somme good wind too in the middle section with the small chop. Just squeezed a PB out in the Hr after equalling it last visit with no cigar, so Pub Parma n beers were had to savour the little win later that evening. Hour done and time to head down to the islands, where the palm trees were swaying nicely and pina colladas being served around the Coopers weed froth. The local double winged locals added to the vibe with an aroma of all fine love to slap you in the face as one screams across the slippery ripple between the isles of poop. Coulpe of more back n fourths to ensure I hit the hour for a six before stopping to move the mast foot back to the sweet spot. This confirmed I should of had it there even for the hour. Hung down around the isles and knocked a few more frothys off the top of some weed snot using the various auxilary meeting being held at the end of the spit as a gybe mark. No gybes were lost in the sesh, only one dismount to adjust base halfway through. | ||||||||||||||||||
