Nice to be out on the water again...we have had waaaaay to many windless days :-(

Ackerston Street  - Nelson.

The wind did not live upto the forecast of 35knots, instead got 10 - 30knots NE & N max.
Launched the speed board in 10-20knots of wind to at least try to be in a good position when the wind started cranking.
This worked as we eventually had some 30knot gusts and I got a few runs with my new Tribal fin, was just getting into the swing of things and wind dropped to a point I could not plane down the run. After a few more runs of play catch the gust I decided to swap to the IS87.  The first gust I caught was a PB (35.221knots) on the IS87 and then the wind was gone for good. The PB was of interest as the tide was rushing in causing some large standing waves,  it felt really slow compared to the speed board.

W49 with tribal 19.5, and IS87 tribal 27, KA 5.4.

Christchurch Estuary, NE. very strong gusts.  Falcon 79L, 4.5 Severne.  Switched to Supercoross 94L.  Overpowered in the gusts but didn't have the momentum in the lulls, especially with the chop.  Backed of a little so rigged up my brand spanking new 5.5 Severne.  Much smoother sail, and the sail feels incredibly light.  Shot upwind, went slightly faster.  Came in after the sun had set.  That was hard sailing.  Enjoyed the challenge though.

Christchurch Estuary, Solid day on the estuary. Havnt seen it this choppy for a long time. Mt Pleasant YC meter read a max gust of 49knots. A few people on 3.7...meaning it was windy!!!. Had a vmax of 35.61knots. Lost 2.2 knots in the software...can i please have it back... Great fun charging over 30knots in these conditions...so bumpy. Actually flying over the chop..just hold the position and stay sheeted in. Well done Stephen on your pb. Looks like a fast session. Niiice!!.  FF 79, M1 5.5, C3 28

Christchurch Estuary, NZ ..Very brief sail - little more than 2 minutes - as the light was fading. Mission was just to score one Alpha which I managed to do, although unfortunataly I didn't judge the width quite right and could have sailed a lot more free on the outbound leg.

Well done on the Pb Stephen.  Good to see youve got some wind back.  It was ferocious here today.

Thanks everyone!

Only the second time out on the speed board this season Cry First time I was quicker on the slalom board as too little wind, at least this time I was slighty faster on the speed board, new fin felt great but really need more wind to see what it can do.

Seems La Nina is not good for wind in Nelson, far too much 'east' in the weather patterns.

El Nino in Nelson has better fronts from the N or NW followed by great SW...and complaints from me the wind is too strong at times Embarassed I guess I'm just fussy.

Glad you all are getting some good times on the water.
