Bostonfoil (17127km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Finning! Exocet RS2 Skyscape 5.8 Kestral 18 - First session with a fin in over a year. Wanted to make sure I could still do 'it" in preparation for my assault on the Green Island Nats. Turns out I can, but only just. The 5.8 foiling sail didnt help things but I managed OK. (leech very tight despite over downhauling) Was great to be up close to witness some effortless speed sailing by the crew. Matt, Andy, Byron, Sue, Rick, Greg, Brucey, and Daffy from Sandy! (ive missed some, sorry its been a while) Hats off to you all.

Andrew Haigh (48982km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. SW 12-22 FF79, North 5.4 and Fangy speed demo (18cm?) Normal story forescast was 30-35, but it didn't deliver. On the plus side, it was sunny and we had a great roll up from our team. Also quite a few up from Sydney plus a few locals. | ||||||||||||||||||

sboardcrazy (24418km): 10-28kts SSW Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU level 0.29 - 0.34 5m Mach2- 80 iso - 16.5cm FF ( cutdown 22) Fun! Thought I'd lost my mojo for speedsailing. I really didn't want to bother today. Rigged the 6.2m and then it kicked in so rerigged the 5m. Figured I'd use the smaller sail on bigger board and change to the 70ltre if it came in. Underpowered a bit but nicely powered in the gusts. Spent 3/4hr sussing out things and went up towards Peely where there looked to be some flat areas and then the b front footstrap pulled out of the board. All the way back down fixed it and screwed them all tight ( I've been slack , there were a few loose.. ) Back up again. I was pretty buggered by the time I finally got there. A lot of walking today. I didn't gybe in close as I thought it would be too shallow but watching the others and noting the water level it probably would have been ok. A lot of sphincter clenching moments flying through the weedbeds . I got quite a few tugs with the FF and was expecting to stack it but I didn't.. I decided to follow Byron down below the flats . I've never sailed to leeward of a bank before.. yeehaa! small 7cm triangular chop but so much fun! I haven't felt the board being lifted on a bearaway for so long..Mojo definitely back.. Gave it away when my arms were sphaghetti and I had a headache..cold too. Next time I'll wear a windproof as well. It died down and I slogged in thinking it was over but it finally came in as I derigged and everyone was flying. I took some photos and will post them when I get a chance.. Tired and aching but happy.. George , Rod , Nigel, Andrew, Byron, Greg, Hugh,Jeff ( I didn't know he still speedsailed), Matt , Pete? , Daffy , Rick and a few others.. |
