1000 days ago Coodanup, WA, AU. Was up for distance again today as as per Anita's advice we spread out (as we might do more damage that way). Arrived to Fangy's with 6knots and Boz reporting zilch at Liptons and Reg reporting Melville 16Knots (typical). 10 minutes later Boz arrived and wind kicked in nicely. Rigged 6.5, headed out and was nicely powered, reasonably flat, nice, perfect distance conditions.
After one lap wind dropped to nothing and chugged around for a another lap then gave up as nothing. Spent the next hr chatting to Boz whilst rigging 8.6. Wind picked up and got a few laps in but direction was more from north now whilst Boz struggled. Then I was completely overcooked but held on as long as I could. Wind looked like staying now so went in to rig smaller when wind dropped to near zero again. Sun came out, glorious winters day but no wind...more chatting. Decided to go middle ground and now rigged 7.8. After another 30mins or so wind picked up and got a couple of laps in at least nicely powered now...wind was now from south west so started heading for pond but then died again. Boz gave up and headed in and I started limping home...got to the car park and wind picked up again... and had a nice 1/2 hour session before it got marginal and just on plane. No chance of getting remotely any meaningful distance though so called it quits.
Got home to a case of Guiness from Reg. Is too much Reg. Will leave it in the van. 1/2 in the fridge and 1/2 room temp if anyone wants one. Need to get some plastic glasses. Hopefully to celebrate Antman's 40 tomorrow on the pond.
