fordy007 (7898km): Hampton, VIC, AU Futura, 5.9m. 34cm Master Blaster. 18-20kn Really messy in the Bay mush today. Atomic fin amazing, tracks incredibly well in the crappy bay mess! | ||||||||||||||||||
Sailquik (29582km): Sandy Point. Vic. Great wind direction and has been a long time coming. SW to WSW the whole day which means pretty flat water and we can sail back upwind. Wind was a bit less than anticipated - around mid to high 20's. Might have been a 30kt Gust somewhere but not consistent. I rigged both the 5.2m and 5.7m but only used the 5.2m and was a bit undersone most of the time, which suited me fine at my current state of sailing fitness. After 6 runs I was pretty well spent so retired unhurt. Kato was just churning up and down on his small slalom board making it look too easy! We had good company from Tone and Ashley, but both were struggling with the conditions a bit. A bit of experience and some wiley strategies help a lot here nowdays. I used the Mistral 47 speed today, hoping that would be a bit easier than the CA40, and it was. Not much easier to get going, but definitly easier to point upwind and glide trough the lulls. I was thinking hard about what fin to use, thinking I needed a 20 symmetrial or somilar and could not remember if I had anything quite like that. Then I was looking through my fin stash and found a brand new Tribal 19cm weedspeed, which I confess I had forgotten I had go oell over a year ago. PERFECT! It was rock solid and definitly better uowind than any of the assys I have. And no slouch either with numerous just over 40 peaks. Nice to know I can still crack a 40 at 70! Very happy with the results today and definitly enjoyed the Covid Safe company. I also tested a 25Hz ubloc M9 based prototype that Manfred Fuchs sent me to test quite a few monthas ago, which was considerably delayed in shipping and I only got after my sailing season has finished. Very low error rates and very consistent results compared to the two Mini Motion and two LCD Motions I compared it with. I had one LCD set to 5Hz to make it easier to compare with the prototype, and posted from the one set at 10Hz. But the results from all of them were withing an exceedingly small margon. (5 x 10's - all 5 under 0.05 difference. The 3 10hz devices were under 0.004 difference) Mistral 47 speed, Tribal 19 Weedspeed, KA Speed 5.2m

kato (37642km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU The Pit race track is alive and well . A great forcast that .......faded just a bit when the tide was right. This speedsailing stuff is hard Stuck to the slalom board for the session and had a ball trying a few fins. Ran the Weapon 30 first and finished the session on the Weapon 28 30 deg and loved it. A little bit of weed made it hard for the upright but the 28 just lapped it up and got the peak speed. Ran out of partners for a 1 hr but I did here a lot of creative chatter as to why they couldn,t do one . Great to be back at The Pit with friends. Thought had a good first run (33knts) but hadn't cleared historic memory of GT31, dang. |
