853 days ago Albany, WA, AU. Only sailed afternoon as daughter wanted to go for a long hike and had to do a grog run for the muso's. Enroute to the grog saw Waricle so stopped for a chat. He wasn't happy, just 6km into a distance day and it was almost midday. Did the grog run and was going to film him on the drone but had some technical glitch so went to have lunch and deliver the grog. Went out on big gear since Waricle struggling and did one sort of NM run both getting exactly same top speeds so we thought we'd try another. I got to the start of the launch spot first and slightly upwind then Warilce arrived and proceeded to do an Antman impersonation, waving hands wildly and gesticulating. I thought he was indicating for me to go first but had no idea what he was on about being upwind and in a helmet. Then he started pointing madly as I wasn't getting the message. I turned around and there was a shark, about 20m away. I carefully checked to make sure it wasn't Reg with a fin strapped to his back, or a dolphin...no, definitely a shark. Looked like it was trying to get out through the narrow channel but it was right in the way of me launching...didn't want to hit it or wipe out on a weed berg and have a close encounter so tried to film it. Waricle had a clear launch window so was off...the shark then turned around so I started walking downwind to try and get a clear launch window, shark and I continued this cat and mouse till about 1/2 way to kiters launch then I lost sight of it. Waricle wondered what had happened to me and came looking and nearly hit it. Talked to the kiters and they said they saw it yesterday so poor thing is probably trapped. The reckon it was a bronze something or other and nothing to worry about...that said they stayed suspicisouly close to the western shoreline for the whole afternoon. Evets joined us after a bit. Would have been a good day to go for distance. 120 Tabou rocket, 7.8 Severne Overdrive, FF24. Will review video footage later but think it will look fairly lame

I was planning to go to Safety Bay this afternoon, then I saw how long the trip was going to take with all the road/rail works and decided to stay local instead. Local was gusty shifty and holey as usual. Hard to get wind all the way around a gybe or a run. A bit of excercise and nice to catch up with Richo. Air and water temp were lovely. Good to be able to sail in a swimsuit and not to need to change out of it afterwards.

Nice session down at Coods (Fangyland) on the WindTech 12'6" custom. Sailed with Ken and Lincoln who are big fans of the 12'6. Hoping to take it for a spin down at Liptons on Saturday if the forecast holds.

Nice foil in 18-22K.
Lit on the FTY + 800 wing + 7.0 M3 combo.
Well happy with the hour, I'm getting closer to my 20K foiling hour goal
Really enjoyed that, the gear felt great and I enjoyed being so powered up.

Mission today was to test the mistral 47 after I changed the footstrap position and mast track, much better than the last two sails on the board. Did a few runs a cross the channel with the 47 behaved itself apart from a stink boat that didn’t know whether to speed up or slow down when he saw me, eventually he decided to gun it so went through the back of his wash, no issues for the 47 just lack of wind behind the boat so in the drink I went.
Next test for the 47 when it’s proper windy and using the KAR 5.7, did see the potential for this board today, next windy day will see
Mistral 47 KAR 6.3
