great fun with Jeremy and Peter and Cliff

Tried for alphas. could repeatedly do low 25s but no more. First world problem I guess. Missed a top 5 by 0.006 knots

Wind reduced so I called it.

Had to manually transfer numbers fromKA72. Is this new or just me :-(

Congrats with the Alpha Pete, that's getting a bit too quick for my liking!  Staying on the plane in a gybe when you lose driving force from the sail is a combined function of board control (keeping the bloody thing smooth) and momentum. Momentum is mass times velocity (m.kg/sec) so, as larger folks always go faster, they'll always gybe faster as they have so much more momentum.  Example: you doing 30 knots into a gybe at 75kg has 2250 units of momentum.  Your 90kg mate going into a gybe at 35 knots (Stretch maybe or Woody?) has 3150 units, half as much again. So he will always glide through the unpowered part of the gybe with ease whereas you will come off the plane more often.  Say you could start the gybe going 35 knots you'd have 2625 units of momentum, i/6 less than Stretch even though you were going as fast.  Bloody physics!

Hi Reg. As a lightweight (both mass and sailing) I was thinking about the maths. Yes a heavier sailor takes in more momentum. But they the. Have to accelerate it once at minimum speed. Is that also a factor 🤔
