923 days ago 2 categories Coodanup, WA, AU. Crowded in the Pond today with the usual suspects out plus Slowy, Stretch and Kai plus a few new faces joining the fun. Fafed around with the rear facing Gopro which turned out not to be worth it as it managed to somehow switch to photo mode after a few mins. Hopefully got some good shots with the 360. Struggled with the small sail for the first bit as been so long sailing big gear but got in the swing of things after more fiddling. Wind seemed to drop off so headed out but once out wind booted back in so probably should have stayed a bit longer. iSonic97, 5.8 KA Koncept, FF22

Bit of fun, maiden voyge with the 52AV, sweet board so much more in speed wise from the board but had to cut the session early before the wind rea;;y booted, was on the 5.2 KAR and the combination with the AV52 is perfect, could have easily put the 5.7 KAR and possibly better speeds. Slight mishap so the session had to be cut before the wind really booted more later on why the session had to be cut short.

I was on call so had to stay local...
I rigged for the forecast during the lull, wind came in but not much, so I then rigged the big gear and headed out on that. Of course the wind really booted in then, and swung WSW, which is my least favourite direction. Big gear in 30 kn gusts, Gusty & lumpy. I wasn't having fun so I quit early. I could have come in and used the small gear but I had already decided that wouldn't be much fun either. Needed a wave board.
Gloria had even less fun. She almost had a bingle on the way to Melville, spilled her thermos of coffee when she slammed on the brakes, and then she rigged next to me at Melville and was showing me her new shiny fangy fin, when the gust of the day came along, picked up Gloria's sail and slammed it into her with a loud whack! and the next thing I know Gloria has landed on top of me, with the fangy fin (thankfully) lying flat between us. I could have been sliced! The boom or mast must have hit Gloria on the back of her head because quite a lump came up. Someone who saw the incident recommended that it would be safer for Gloria not to sail in case of concussion, so she packed up and went home. Gloria tells me she has quite a headache and a big lump on the back of her head. She has decided to wear her helmet while rigging in future.
We hope the rest of the team had better luck at Coodanup!

Fun sailing today with a great group of guys in the pond. Not enough wind for the speedboard today but managed to catch a few gusts so nice to see 4*2sec 40kt runs on the Falcon 56. Evo 12 5.8 wp 27.

Weekend off base and good timing with the west coast front. Good to see the team again and lots of new faces.Had to leave early just as the wind looked like it was going to kick in a notch more. 5.8 SCR, 53 Patrick, 25 WS.

Rigged for a cruise rather than speed, Woody and Ant had speed covered. Decided to sail for an hour without a break to make up for getting there late, few dropped gybes and some battles when it picked up about 40 mins into the hour. Great to catch up with Woody, Scott and Slowy, and see a few more out enjoying the pond. That's about as good a sail as any in winter. Can still feel my toes, some flat water, good crew for company and decent wind.

Fun day at the pond with a big crew. Glad to see a 40 peak but just couldn't crack the 2 sec. I think the fastest run was heading home through the chop - I can't seem to get the weed banks to work at the pond.

Good times at the chook Pond with a great bunch of keen sailors. Wind a bit up and down and of course the best was after i got out and packed up.
