South Yunderup, WA, AU. First day allowed out after the virus, the others had the pond virus but headed here as wind supposed to be NNW.  Was joined by the go getting granny groupie Gloria.   Was becalmed on arrival so rigged big gear, then squall came in decided on the small gear with 6.3 then upped to 7.  Tide was super low but risked a 29.  Headed out and fanged around nicely but there was a huge amount of lethal weed burgs that were impossible to spot so a bunch of catapaults over the handle bars.  Of course the wind spun SW so would have been better in the pond after all.  To add to the misery my original DIY GPS which I was using to film rear facing speeds on was lost as its mount suffered fatigue cracks from all the chop...I had a leash but the leash was connected to the mount (which being 3x20mm Al didn't think would break)....hoping I caught the loss on camera so can find time stamp and fix position and head back with metal detector.    Wind only lasted about 30min and then becalmed and due to fin length couldn't chug so walked the 1km back to van...of course as soon as I got back wind picked up and got a few more runs in. Anyway, good to get out.   iSonic97, 7.0 KAR, 29 TWS

Cruisy session in the pond with Boz, Richo and Scott. I rigged as there was some decent wind for the others to enjoy then I was becalmed by the time I hit the water so I walked in via the channel. Thankfully the wind picked up enough to be plaining for about 45 minutes after I let off some downhaul. Tiny bit shallow in the pond for a 29cm tws with a dropping tide, found a couple of rocks on the bottom in the chanel as I was trying to chug out.

Pond with Ben, Boz and Richo. A gust here, a gust there but mainly rain squalls with no wind. First run in the pond was the fastest and I could have easily missed the gust so got lucky,

Da Pond with da boys  Boz Scott and Ben.  Looked on when i arived but soon went to sh*t.

Boz and i watching Scott chug into the channel and seeing some white caps at the top end jumped into action to try to follow him.  While we were walking in we watched  Scott Fangin back and forth. We finally got in and wind backed off, bugger!

Some ok gusts from then on but really average.  Wind direction and tide were great just little wind.

Fun little after-work mission at Foilville.

It was gusty & frontal, so I rigged conservatively 7.0 M3 + 800 wing + FTY

First hour was excellent, mostly fully powered, occasionally overpowered in the odd 25K gust.

Breeze switched off around 5 when I was way upwind.  Dogged along for 15 minutes or so, then a massive squall blew through, and I made my way downwind.  Becalmed to getting smashed inside 10 minutes, hey it's winter Undecided

Good to get out, but damn it was cold, looking forward to spring Smile

the good news is I have the GPS loss recorded on 2 cameras...will be an interesting non wind day challenge to try to locate it.    First pic is one of many of evil weedburg that Pelicans sit on and threw me over the handle bars..almost invisible when sailing.  There was none last time sailed here last time.

you need a fangy fin for the weedburgs - thats what they were designed for.

They will handle all but the thickest of them with no more than a tug

Good work on the alphas and nm team. Top 5 alpha Flex, well done!

We improved our hour as well but still more work required there.

Moved up into second place. Well done, all!

ya, Fangy's are the best but with 7.0 in chop the TWS for sure is better.  I rigged same as last session which had 30cm higher tide.   Trouble was wind was brutal then nothing, however low tide, low chop meant shoulda gone FF22...bla bla, school boy error.....

Great work Gloria getting out in the cold. Nice to have you back in action Jim and rewarded for risking the switch and glass-off at Boombas. Speed of the day Scott and hopefully a better outing is on its way Richo.

Well done Gloria on the PB. Flex weedbergs aren’t a problem if you go really fast so when you hit them you skip over them😳trust me would I leed you astray😁

Bit of a bonus day.   Managed to get a time fix of DIY GPS loss from the (2x) videos which then allowed to fix GPS position to within a second or so.  Being a wind free day, went out at lowest tide with metal detector to the spot, marked it with a stick and started what I thought might be a long search.   Turns out didn't need the detector, found by eye after less than 1 minute search just 10m from my best guess(you can see my best guess with the white stick in photo below) Water depth was only 15-20 cm and weed free where I was searching.  This is where it gets weird, the exact spot I found the GPS was the exact spot (to the precision of my Garmin eTrex 10 which was about 3m) where on the day the wind dropped dead and I stood around for a while wondering what to do.  You could see my foot prints just 1 meter away.   This was my first born epoxy'd GPS and is proving a good investment.
