Lake Ellesmere.  Started with a big wind hole in the middle of the run. Had to back off my downhaul to get more backhand pressure.  Wind picked up a bit more after I got out. Wind meter reading around 18 to 22 most of the time. Be interesting if the 5.5 would be faster in the same conditions.  Isonic 44 M5 6.2 LKWD 20

Christchurch Estuary, NZ ..Went out first with my Severne 7.0 and was nicely powered up, but key to holding it for a reasonable amount of time was to avoid getting into too much chop, and despite being well past high tide there was still plenty around. So came in after about 15kms to wait for a while. ..In the meantime and mostly just out of curiosity I decided to rig my 5.0 Loft RB for a brief test of the bottom end. Staked my 7.0 to the ground, half expecting to be back for it in 10 minutes. It was still choppy but eventually got a lot flatter, and I ended up doing 55 kms of enormously enjoyable sailing with the Loft 5.0 - Rigged on a skinny mast and allied with my favourite Tribal fin it certainly has plenty of accelleration and bottom end, and simply felt really great all the time - My nautical mile (mostly squashed in down in kitesurfers corner) has three gybes including my Alpha gybe in it. ..As for my favourite 7.0 I was very lucky it hadn't blown away, it had completely pulled up two large screwdrivers that I'd staked it to the grass with, and my car was directly downwind of it. Still feeling rather irked by the very poor job I made of that!

Carbon Art 82, Severne Mach 4 7.0, Loft RB 5.0, Tribal 18 worn down to 16cms   ..my Alpha, which I very much feel is very close to my physical limit at 66 Kilos - is also of course, courtesy of my really great made in New Zealand board.

I just heard the NIWA man saying that the 'La Nina' weather system is moving away from NZ after 3 years.                                                                    Yippee!!     Finally we should be getting back to 'speedy' wind systems.

Well done Pete! and good speed Dan.

With regards to La Nina fading out, It's a big celebration for me as up here at the top of the south island, Easterly winds are crap! ....only been out 3 times since December Cry

But there is now hope and as I look at next weeks weather......we have a nice westerly appearing towards the end of week Cool
