584 days ago 2 categories Christchurch Estuary, NZ ..I was sailing for quite a while after sunset Dan, it just got better and better, more and more flat - I was eventually running aground though in some gybes/Alpha's.
I was thinking about your question, 16 versus 18, before my 18 wore down I actually felt a little over-finned with it, and so I think you would as well, especially as you like going really fast, and maybe the tail of your board might be a little narrower than mine as well. ..On the other hand I've found it remarkably easy to reposition upwind with the 18, and also it can accellerate my board in a short distance better than any other fin I've ever sailed with. And that definitely feels like an advantage to me, especially if there's only a short stretch of flat water in front of me, as is often the case on the estuary.
