Stoked to feel some real winter power :) wrong rig and fin choice but once ya in, there's no turning back ;) Great company today with Kai,Woody,Boz,Richo,Slowboat and Scott who turned up late and may well score the best of the wind..Powerd by the 5.8 SCR,49 MOZ,Octane,22 ws.

Got down to the pond early and rigged the 6.3 with the 50 iSonic and 20cm weed speed. Got absolutely nuked when the big squalls came through, struggling to hang on and spinning out on my speed runs. Should've rigged smaller and put on a bigger fin in hindsight but I'm glad to have gotten out for some killer conditions.

Coodanup, WA, AU An early start with signs of real wind. Decided on the JP50 instead of the Falcon 56. A few fun runs in the squals ended up with a 2nd best 2sec so happy. Top company as usual and happy to sail out the channel.

Here's some action

Late shift at the pond. Arrived to see everyone packing up, with sunshine and no wind. The wind soon returned and it looked good so riigged the M4 5.5 for the first time. By the time I made it to the top bank in the pond it was blowing 5 knots from the west. Floated around for an hour amusing myself by trying to break 30 knots but no dice. Eventually a squall came through so made the best of that out in the middle of the pond.

Cocos (Keeling) Islands

First session at Cocos. Thanks Flex for the IT tips to help me post. It is quite a convoluted  process from here using just the phone.

Lovely location but took some getting used to different gear and a new location. Wind was very gutless for the speed in kn, so had to keep changing up sails to get enough power. Tide was dropping the whole time and just when I got the gear combo right the tide became too low to continue.

Gloria struggled at first but did better once she changed to a bigger sail.

I saw three turtles.  At first they look like a small coral bombie  but they have two flippers and a head.

Terrific sailng all and nice to see some footage of the day from Woody's vid. With the exception of Woody and Slowy amazingly similar top speeds.  Congrats to Richo and Woody for 2nd best and Scoot for 4th best 2sec.   Don't forget the two Pinna ladies probably getting some enjoyable distance at Cocos but probably can't post yet makes a pretty big turnout.

Interesting that Chook pond 2 also booted but much later.  Once the wind died at CP1 could have driven there in nice tail wind, and caught the wind at CP2, then returned in time for beer oclock.

That's a super team average with everyone 38 kn or better. Well done, Woody on a second best top speed. We won't post and bring down the average....

Actually unable to post due to poor WiFi at present,  but idyllic conditions here, boardies and rashie. Challenging on unfamiliar gear and a new location.  Had to stop due to low tide. See my Facebook page for a photo.

Top numbers gents. Wished I could have joined you today. Unfortunately I had a consult today to check my foot fracture. Turns out I had a 2nd fracture that they didn't pickup on 1st xray!  Good job I was taking it easy and not getting hammered at the pond. A few weeks before I can "officially" get back on the board again so looking forward to it. Very envious from your numbers today. Nice work Woody!

Flex, Sms won't work so asking you here. Phone will connect to internet but won't connect to the esp32 . Worked at home, won't work here even though I have used the right URL. Any ideas?

Boss, just reading your question now, have emailed you as well but put here.

There are multiple ways to download the GPS. I use laptop as phone screen too small for me without glasses.  Just listing them here which may help.  You don't need internet to download, only to upload to KA72 etc

The 2 ways I download usually:-

1) I have the GPS configured to look for my iPhone wifi hotspot (not my home wifi), so if I turn the iPhone hotspot on the GPS’s automatically log onto that.   I then connect my laptop to the SAME Wifi hotspot of my phone (always forget to do that).   Then type the IP address shown on the GPS into a browser. Note you only have to type the numbers which is probably something like 172.20.10.x.  (i.e. don't need to type http:// and numbers could vary wildly but not important) (I still use FTP to download as I like the file structure better but this is irrelevant)

2) Put GPS into AP mode (hold magnet within 10 sec after turn on).    Then connect laptop to the GPS wifi.  Wifi is named ESP32 with password = password (its on the GPS screen). Then type the IP address shown on GPS into a browser.    Note you only have to type the numbers, not the http://. Should be 192.168.4.1  (possibly you've miss typed the ESP32 wifi password but your phone has remembered so forget the network and retype the password?)

You can also do 1 and 2 above directly on your phone.  I just tested with 5.76 all 4 ways above and definitely all works fine, so if still not working, restart phone (reset network settings?), try Gloria’s phone/laptop or give up and do it when you get home since you can fit a few years of sailing logs onto the SD card.

Hope that helps?

Live webcam to watch Windxtasy and Gloria and whoever else out there in near realtime at:-

https://iott.cc/index.php/yacht-club-wc/

Launch spot is just right of picture and looks like wind direction means might get a glimpse of them sailing.

Only updates every 5 min or so but we expect at least one photo bomb ladies
