SRS73 (16662km): Boundary Island, Peel Estuary, WA, AU Arrived at the pond before lunch and the tide was lower than I expected so decided to try the 16 Delta Speed. Made my way to the top of the speed run and found some flat against the bank and it lined up nicely with the first squall of the day. That run was the fastest on the 16 Delta but I spun out, caught a rail and ate it. Luckily there wasn't anyone around to see that! Headed in to change fins and Ant, Ben, Boz and Flex arrived. Back to the pond and the wind had dropped so spent most of the time trudging to the top of the run. Finally, a squall came through and I tried the same speed run as earlier – it was the fastest of the day but way too broad to really send it. Keen to try the 16 and 14 Delta Speeds when there's a bit more wind. iSonic 52, SV M4 5.5, Tribal Delta Speed 16 / WSP 23

The Shroom (594km): Bumpy day at Boombas, Rob, Boz, and a few others were there. Put up a wave sail because my cambered one was too big got a decent run stuffed up a gybe, got back up and the wind died. Had to struggle back the whole time! Finally got back and I called it in. All in all it was frustrating 🍄 | ||||||||||||||||||
Snickers (13842km): Coodanup, WA, AU Arrived at the Chook pond to see Scott already in the pond. Ant convinced me it was going to boot in that was as good an excuse as any to try out the Mistral 47w speed board with a 5m koncept. What a mistake, max speed 21knots. Forecasst had the peak wind from 11AM to 2PM but it seems that was the lull between the good stuff. Before I even got into the pond I thought about heading back to the car park but the odd puff tempted me to wade into the pond. After a lot of wading and not much sailing I headed in for lunch and to reconsider my choices. Jim over took me on the way in and hit the road. Fortunately I decided to stay and rig what I origionally thiought would be right, 6.2 reflex, mistral91 witgh tws29. The wind built and made for a decent sail. Top speed was near the viewing platform just before I spun out. Great to see Scott, the return of Antman, Flex and Boz. Light was fading so I used the good wind to get in fearing it would die off, 10 minutes later and woompah! three hours late but eventually the front hit. Maybe next time. Well done Scott on the perserverance and nailing speed of the day. |
