Jeff (13640km): Majestic Point, foilville - 5m Zeta, Simmer 1100 foil. Wizard 125. Rigged for the light wind and was all good until the wind kicked in (for a while). Good to get out and I found my GPS, thought I had lost it overseas. Turned up in my backpack.
SRS73 (16662km): Coodanup, WA, AU Conditions looked sketchy at Coods so rigged the 6.5 and *bang* the mast snapped and I thought "better on land than water". Rigged the 5.5 and was heading out when Ben arrived. Ben rigged appropriately for the conditions and was zooming around while I was mostly standing around. iSonic 52, SV M4 5.5, Tribal WSP 23
Snickers (13575km): Coodanup, WA, AU Great way to spend a birthday. Good to see Scott heading out when I arrived, shame he had to switch to the smaller sail. Not as strong as foreecast so I rigged a littel bigger which worked out great until the tide dropped. Headed back to base with Scott as the 29cm had done enough dredging. Gloria (823km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU Fantastic turnout of sailors, too many to mention. Braved the conditions, a bit above my paygrade but only way I'll regain my fitness is to keep trying I guess. Thanks for the loan of your board Waricle, and thanks to Shroom for checking on me. Carbon art (Waricle’s) 5.5 Severne Turbo, Fangy fin. Loved being out there 😀
The Shroom (594km): Epic day out at Australind! I rocked on up at about 10ish and waited about 15minutes before I rigged the KA Koncept 4.4. Waited around for about an hour for the tide to drop a bit more. About 20 windsurfers or more rocked on up. Too many to name. Killed off that hour with a hot coffee, and a wonderful chat with Gloria. Finaly got dressed into my full winter rig of windjackets, neoprene hoods, and all the fluff that is associated with Winter windsurfing. Went out on a Carbon Art board I stole off Rob. The board itself was lovely to ride but there was a ginormous elephant in the room (or the bunbury inlet for that matter) the chop and the fin combined. It was a 27 pointer (I think) and the chop was short and sharp. The fin spun out and got air as well. If I were to make an accurate size analyse on that fin I would say it was maybe a 4cm fin. The rest of the 23 was out of the water. After I decided to sell that elephant to the nearest zoo, I swiched to my freestyle wave board so it would eat up the chop. Better than the Carbon Art but the eating of the chop not so much. It needed a bit of salt and pepper. After about half an hour I came in to have a rest as my arm pump was insane. I checked my speed only 21knots, then chatted with Pete, and headed back out determinded for a pb of some kind. The runs were still super sketchy. The chop made me spin out multiple times, I had a few nasty speed crashes, but I got the pb I wanted. After the day was nearly over I switched to my Starboard Isonic 50 litre speed board since the water was so much flatter. Had 1 run which was really a planning spin out as I couldn't bring the Kestral fin back in. Found out that another elephant appeared which was I couldn't get the board going. Called up the zoo again, alas they were closed. I had to drag my elephant back to the car. Wasn't fun at all. But as the day is over I still have one question, how on earth did I get so many elephants? 🍄
Pointman (25522km): Majestic Point, WA, AU Up and down sesh at Foilville. Initially rigged the 6.0, thinking it was gonna kick in, but it festered, so changed up to the 7.0 + 650 wing. Had an OK sesh. Breeze died 20 minutes into my sesh, then returned after 15 minutes or so of FA. It was like that through the arvo, with solid pressure at times, followed by long lulls. Still nice to get out, I had a few fun runs |
