Another Chook Pond mission.

Same gear as last week...Windtech 57 + 6.3 SCR + 27 WS.

Fun sesh.  Breeze was not as consistent as last weekend, and it was hard to jag a gust on the run, but I managed a couple of 39s.

Heaps of crew out enjoying the conditions, I think I counted 11 sailors at one point.

Pretty happy to score that again, so soon after last weekend Smile

Super fun pond session with heaps of peeps. 'The bank' and I were not getting along so did my fastest runs out in the middle. I noticed that I had 2 10 sec over 38 so that became my mission to improve my 5 x 10 sec but the wind didn't play ball. Had loads of fun trying.

Ben was putting in some overtime when I left.

Chook pond with a big crew of champions.

GW60 died this morning, luckily I packed the navigt31 with dodgy screen. Looked iffy so rigged slightly bigger and left the speed board in the van. I felty weak and the gear felt sluggish and wish I had gone with the speed board but I figured I would just keep sailing until the rig felt comfortable. A tiny bit more down haul made the world of difference. 4/5 fastest 2 secs on a port tack and best 5x10's all on a port tack. Glad I hung around as my best speed was about 4pm near the bird watchers jetty, maybe good luck tghat I set off from the top of the chanel too early. I spoiled some good chances to go quicker so well done to those that make it look easy nailing their chances.

Epic session out at the Chook Pond!

Started out this morning at my local coffee shop. As I sipped a hot flat white and it was that moment I knew I was going to get a pb. Shortly after that moment of realisation I left the coffee shop and drove down to Coodanup to check out what was going on. Rob and I decided to go to the pond and we packed the car. After half an hour we were at coodanup rigging up. When my KA Koncept 4.4 was rigged I headed out for a quick run to test the sail size. I also moved the foot straps back to make them outboard straps, they worked a charm.

I ended up trudging my gear through the channel and 20 minutes later I was in the pond sending it. As soon as I stepped on my board the wind booted in raining heavily I elegantly dismounted with a small splash! It was that moment that I witnessed a spectacular crash, Rob sent it over the board and the spray was magnificent. After the water died down where the crash was I hopped back on my board for some more runs. After tacking up the pond a few times I saw Rob putting his gear up on the salt marsh. I started to sail down to check out what had happened, turns out he bruised himself, tore a sail, and broke a batern. Leaving him to his own devices I wished him well and sailed away. It was just my self and the Chook pond (and the other people out there). For a good 45 minutes I sent it, stuffed up a few gybes but there was one that was probaly the most memorable of all. I saw the mast go up into the air and I wondered why it started getting bigger and bigger, then it hit me...!

For the next half an hour or so I showed everyone how to crash. I must of been an absolute insparation out there because people were copying me in no time! I really felt like the star of the show.

Alas my arm pump and burn was too much so I walked in. On the way in I found every hole in the channel, smashed every part of my shin on every part of my gear, and got a facefull of salt marsh multiple times. Tired and hungry I had a chat with a few people and went home for something to eat. 🍄

super session, Snickers!

Huge Ks in that amount of wind, a second best 2 sec, and a lovely alpha too.

Congrats on the PB. It almost gets lost in amongst all those big numbers.

We are in second place for the month! Whoo Hoo!

Going very well out there Greg. Not the easiest conditions but smoking speeds for so long off teh slalom gear.

Great to see you out thee again Scott. Good to see you making the most of the speed run through the middle. That samphire seemed to eat the wind.

Looking forward to the shroom's post!
