Liptons & Point Grey, Ross said The wind hadnt yet arrived while it was really windy at Liptons so I decided to stay at Liptons, coz I really wanted to check Point Grey out.  Wind gauge was reading 15 to 24kts, so sailed to Point Grey, yes the run across was pretty wild, (Take it easy they say, have you every tried to take it easy on a Bucking Bull?) Anyway Point Grey revealed itself to be a weed desert, with no flat water so definitely not worth the nightmare ride across.  Liptons wasnt much better, only 100m of flat water..  Speed Board = Nude Streaker 54/80, TR18 5.9m Pepfoil hybrid 18cm. Have to admit the speed board is not a lot of fun unless you have long stretches of flat water, so not enjoying riding it at the moment, and also so taxing on the aging 64yo body.  I was at least able to confirm that Point Grey is not worth the effort, so no more wondering whether my beloved Point Grey is an unused Speedsailing Nirvana NUH, its shit

Patrik 100, NP RSR E-XV 6.5m, JP weed 31cm.

Today was... a great way to wash the work out of my system.

Novara, at it's lumpy best, very short sharp chop very close together with an ample supply of breeze.

Worked my way up around half way up Cox Bay went to try a naughty but woossed out 3/4 way into it as it was getting a wee bit hairy.

Very surprised with the speed again, didn't think I'd get anywhere near it.

Good fun, next time I'll shove some coal up my freckle and make some diamonds at the same time.

Good times

So mainly all wins today, except the wind didn't pick up as expected, and I didn't get to use the 48cm board.

However, I'm getting more and more used to the new 60cm board. Tried the 20cm fangised delta @55 on it today.

Seems like a good compromise between upwind ability and downwind speed, but I still spun out a couple of times.

My biggest problem with it is finding the back strap coming out of a well powered gybe. I had 2 really nice carves, coming in at speed, front foot slipped in without thinking about it,  but back foot tripped on the rear strap, and board went scudding away down wind.. More practise needed.

Had the mast track right back, and it was easy to trim entry behind the front foot, felt nice stable and fast..

Had a good comparrison for Daffy of the Garmin 255 watch and my esp armband, results look good to me.

So all in all a succesful satisfying day, with a great mob of sailors. Sunny and warm and I had no crab encounters.

But too buggered to sail today. The watch said my average HR was 120 and a new Max HR over 150, Recover time 96 hours, don't think that's going to happen!

Nice going team. What happened to my JBs? That’s what happens when the good sailors post I suppose....

Woohoo Good job Scudmark!

My Motion is still in the back of the trailer and I am too buggered to go and get it. After misjudging how strong it was yesterday, I forgot to put a sail up today. Koncept 5.8 Windtech FF22 proto (was a 23 before I pranged it). I spent the first half of the session just scaring crabs, but eventually Huey got enough puff to get me going and uphill a bit. I could not bear away and keep up the sail pressure to any real extent, so my downhills were a bit of a non-event. My watch gave me almost a 34 best, but obvi it was closer to 40 and the watch lost signal strength or something. Very happy with this proto fin, just need a few more sessions of really loading it laterally before I give it the thumbs up. Top Ten Fangy Day simply because for the first in living memory I used the same size sail as Muf-finbreak.

There has been lots of ‘leaving the gps at home’ over there. Sounds like a good way to get good speed.

^ having a GPS presents a lot of challenges sometimes. First you have to remember it, then you have to find the right bit of road to turn it on and not get a speeding ticket, then you have to wait until the Captain is down at the club on Friday night before you post.... it's stressful getting 40's every time you sail these days.

I'm beginning to believe that GPS devices lie and personal estimated speeds are more accurate than GPS?
Joseph Presti
I swore I was doing 40kts in that chop yesterday?
