Forgive me father for I have not sailed. My last was 26 Jan and while it was at least this year it is not anywhere near enough sailing .

Was on a mission today to try to improve my rather pathetic hour . FAILED. I am going to speak very unkindly to our chooks Should make me feel better. It was my second best since 2015, and with better tacktics should be fairly easy to better.

Things are clearly not going at all well for the Fangster. While his transport today was a clear step up from his rather elderly german horses the Jousting lances are clearly designed to intimidate  and as such are verboten under regulation 753126981 clause B14.

We are on to you Fangy so you had better get a lawyer.

Fangyland with Basil, Pepe, Fin, Ratz, Iain and Joe. The trusty old Merc was in for something like its million miles service, so I had to carefully select what gear I could squeeze into the little Bazooki. I was hoping the constabulary would not notice my jousting sticks strapped to door handles. In any case I picked the wrong board. The vintage Windtech fitted inside, but there wasn’t enough puff from Huey to get the board going, especially with my kegs doing their best to sink it without trace.

So I spent a frustrating arvo trying to get things working, but in the end I never felt comfortable or controlled. I saw Pepe do a couple of really nice gybes so I am keen to see if they were alpha worthy. Basil continued to kick sand in my face, well actually it was spray, but the intent was pretty obvious. Ratz contributed to my discomfort by making me look stationary, so I decided to get out before Fin made it worse.

Too late. I snapped my harness line, got royally dunked and had to slog home... and then the breeze seemed to pick up. Possibly not a Top Ten Fangy Day… More statue than the pigeon today.

Just a quick video of what is left of the weed up the top end.

4.7M sail

130L board.

Had some great fun today but had my arse handed to me a few times!

Some issues with gear and spent 80% of the time out of the straps.  Was a good learning curve for sure.

Was awesome to try and 'ghost' better riders today to try and mimic what they were doing, definitely helped speed etc

Spoilt here in WA. had 7 runs of 39kts before finally cracked 41kts on the dial, and the difference? = Much stronger wind gust, it was just the laws of physics, had one run that was 39.97 and I was running out of energy and thought Get PharkedYell, the the wind picked up another 5 knots for about 15 to 20 mins, and the 40 felt easy, and definitely faster than the 39kt runs.  After the 40kt run got a 39.79, with a 38.6 10sec and thought I'll go for a top 5x10 10sec, did another run and stacked it in the high 30's trying to sail off the fin, and I was skimming off the water like a flat pebble, coming to a halt and looking like one of the 3 stooges after a calamityEmbarassed.  Albany felt 10 times better than this todaySurprised

Liptons with lots of crew.

The 48cm board is full of water and drying out, so the 43cm was a no brainer, but fin and sail were another matter. Wind was all over the place, and Strop said there was the occasional big gust. So took a gamble on the strong gusts getting more prevalent, and went with the 5.4 and 20cm 40-60 fin.

Wrong choice, should have gone with the 5.8. I only had the one gust were I felt well powered, that gave me the 37. In the main I was getting 35s with a few 36s thrown in

Night Shift at Fangland. Normally the last to arrive but i really outdid myself this time not arriving until 6pm with not a sole in sight. For some reason i still thought an hour was on the cards and with no thought at all rigged the 7.0 in a rush. Got out there and wow the conditions were great however i was using my 3rd choice boom and after 20 mins the clamp rope came undone so I fixed it up and took a drink break. Started a second hour attempt at 6:25 but after another 30 mins ish I started to spin out alot and yes sure enough i had started to lose the foam under the front of the kestrel and now had a large weed trap instead. headed in yet again and grabbed the speed board for a NM attempt and with the sun now down I went flying down the course must of been a bit short as I was seeing 36knts for a long time.

JP Slalon 71cm, NP RSR E7 7.0m, JP weed 31cm.

Back to reality this week, late start on the water not til 1715, wind looked to be in but gusty so rigged to keep going.

Hit the water and found that the wind was a bit stronger than expected, first run over to Pt Grey almost resulted in a colision with the Stroppy one, fair brown trousered both of us with my scream of terror as he appeared from behind my sail oblivious that I was less than 5ft away.

Spent the session doing runs back and forth but was having some major difficulties with weed clumping badly around the fin, which flt more like a rake than a weed fin, never had it this bad.

Footstrap are going to need some adjustment as they look to have been set up for someone wearing humongous work boots.

Wind realy picked up after I got of the water probably should've got out the small board but still sore from the wilds of Albanakastan.

Good fun.

Went for an early sail and had the place to myself. Plenty of lumpy goodness out there today as the tide was quite high. By the time I got off the water was getting a bit overpowered. Would have changed down but had an appointment to get to.

Got to try out a couple of the tribals I have just raked back to a better angle, they have lost a bit of their upwind ability but are better than the JP weedys I would normaly use at SB this time of year.

Be afraid Paz.Be very afraid. I am going to hire a hit man to finnish you off.All is  fair in love war and windsurfing.

If you are finnished off by a remote controlled exploding finn I never would have thought of it.
