Safety Bay, WA, AU CA SP50 and SP44,  Finworx 26cm weedy, Flying Objects Sawn Off 23cm Weedy, Used the NP RS Slalom MkIV 6.2 LaughingCoolTongue out for the first time and what a bloody awesome sail it is

was only concerned with speed today, did not even attempt a gybe, took the 44 for a run right at the end of the day but was too knackered to do more than one run as it took a bit of work to get it going.

Happy New Year everyone

Wow!!!! well done Captain!! fantastic effort, you're way in front now, there's no way I can get anywhere near that.

My best gybe was 14kts min, but the run in had a few holes, the alpha with good entry and exit runs, (average 27 kts) had a poor gybe, (11 kts min).

Bender from what I can see of your tracks, you could be going wide, have you checked alphas at 70m instead of 50m? You may find some 24+ in there.

JP Speed 54, NP RSR 6.7m, Elmo chopbuster weed 28cm

Got down the run late as per usual, with a fuzzy head and feeling a bit shakey, saw everyone down in alphaland, could only see PD belting back and forth looked like he was on his 6.7m so I rigged mine and fitted my 30-30 fin which I thought would be good for gybing, got all rigged when PD came in only to tell me he was poweed up on a 5.8  Oh dear, it's going to be one of those days.

First run, head down the course, fin behaves a little different to my normal weedies, see a good gust start to bear away when the board suddenly tailwalks and then whompa, flying muppet, feel that lovely "pink" as the harness line lets go and then a very stylish crash.

Yep it's going to be one of those days

Retrun to shore, change the harness lines (which I was planning on doing tomorow before the marathon anyway) change back to ye olde trusty chopen busten weedy.

put in 4 runs with this set up till the smoke in the air gave me the irrit's and back was aching a bit.

Mandurah marrathon tomorow, woo hoo

Huge congrats the Hardz On the ball tearer Alpha'sCool

Hardies Run, WA, AU

CA SP50, RSREvo2 6.2m, 23 slingshot then KAsym 23

Fun arvo and hardies. First time i have spent time trying for alphas. 23.9knts is my PB and today i was convinced that i have cracked into the 24's. Seems i am tightening up on my exits too much. My best had a min speed of 15knts. Tried some speed runs but seemed trp be topping out in the 35's due to the chop. Fun day all the same.

Congrats Hardie well done mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: 9.23pm

1,000 Apologies everyone, Benders comments, made me think, I've probably got a 26kt Trackpoint Alpha, so I went to recompute it with Trackpoint, and found the Doppler Box had been un-ticked from last time, when I wanted to see whether I'd got a 25kt alpha in trackpoint FAAAAAAAARRRRRRRK!!!!!!!!!!  Sorry, Embarassed  Still ecstatic with a 25.51 knot AlphaCool

In the spirit of the comp, our illustrious leader has sent me his tracks, so we can all share in his alpha technique.

hardie's alpha

This is GPSarPro's view. looks like the secret is 30kt entry and exit with 15kt min.

The proximity is 49.3m how well judged was that?? Changing proximity to 75m doesn't improve things either, anybody would think we'd set up a 50m gate. This must be close to a perfect attempt for the conditions.

So Bendy man how does your's compare to this, you both have 15kt minimums.

Looks like you have both things happening Ben, your best legal one goes wide to 70m then comes back to about 25m at the end.

your entry run started off upwind, then there was a bear off half way through,Ben's alpha

So the main difference is the upwind run in, slowed you down below 25kts. The bear away brought your speed up nicely but meant a wide gybe and an upwind run back. If you can turn tighter, and stay more square, that will be faster.

You also have a 65m 23.6kt

Ben's wide alpha

It's a better looking alpha, but entry run a bit too far downwind, making it hard to get back within 50m.

If you look at the other gybes to the left, you'll see why I thought you were going too wide. They are over 75m

Great thanks for the advice Mike. KA 72 gives me what i have posted. i will leave it as its not counted in the team score. Might start posting with Realspeed again if KA72 is going to rob me when i'm close to a PB

Bendy, I didn't actuallysay it, but GPSarPro make your legal alpha 23.52. I use KA72 when I'm away, but I always check results when I return home.

It's nice to check the tracks and make sure they're legal, not to mention making sure you're not being robbed!!!
