Good to get back on my ol' fave combo - 85 Sonic, 5.7 Koncept and 28 vector fin. 18-20 knots

I am excited! I feel I have really broken the back of this gybing thing (at last! Embarassed). More wind today, and a less stable board but after a warm up I completed more gybes than not and made further progress. No PB today, but definite progress, building on Monday's effort. Those of you who learnt to gybe in a season will never know how good this feels. This has taken longer than reaching 30 knots, by far. In part because I was concentrating more on speed and less on gybing perhaps? Well today it was all about gybing.

I must have been a bit addled when I left home because I left home the bag with my sunscreen, towel and GPS in it, so thanks to scarrgo who lent me his GPS. It would have been really disappointing if I finally managed a planing gybe and didn't have a GPS to record it!

Mettams to Sorrento, 5.8 ezzy wave and 79l Kombat. Nice cruise but underpowered and a struggle to plain most of the time. fun to turn a non cam sail on some lumps after all the flat water. Just had to post to get us on the board for the month.

Pinnaroo Point, WA, AU - 9'2" Seatrend Gorge Slalom, FO 32 Weed Fin, 7m Tush Lightning

Sail test today - tried using a sail a metre bigger than I have used in the past. Was happy with the sail - had plenty of power but could not get a decent speed run in the choppy conditions. Looking forward to trying the same combo in flatter water.

Very quick sail out of Peli Point. PD FSW 102, Cross 6.4. Saw Snake, Pointman and Ricey so a few more posts to come. No GPS for me today.

Pelican Point, 135L/7m

Rigged 7m. Should have rigged 7.5m. Still had some nice runs. Tried some gybes...pathetic effort.

Peli Point joined by Pointy. Got there around 4:30 and wind started dropping around 5. Never really juiced but the combo was feeling sweet. There definitely going to be a 25+ swan hour this summer....Cool

Pelican Point, WA, AU

Fun after work sesh at Peli.

135 Patrik + 8.4 TR8 + 44 FHot.

Breeze was a bit patchy, and got lighter later in the day, but found a few nice squirts.

Too inconsistent for a decent crack at an hour, and a bit frustrating watching the Snake zipping around like the energiser bunny on acid, but at the end of the day it was a nce way to end the working week Cool

Saw Obelix out giving it a decent crack, looked like you were going well mate Smile

Ricey (11089km):

Pelican Point, WA, AU

Turbo 6.5 with Xfire 98 until it got too strong, then Xfire 80 until it dropped, then Xfire 98.

Patrick was havig fun on his freeride/wave board.

After the W word outing at Dutchies.

Odd set coming through to keep it interesting. Quite a lot of weed around and kites.

Peel Inlet, Novara

Got to Safety Bay to see Tom packing up and advising that the run was dangerously lumpy. Next Liptons, but no wind there and shallow, so ended up at Novara.

Wind was a bit light at around 18 knots but managed to plane through the hour which ended abruptly when I ran aground near Boundary Island.

Happy to play wingman and backup Jake's scorching hour Cool

Nice sail after work at Shoalwater. Sailed over to the beaver for a few runs in glassy-flat water.

Nice one JJ! Great backup for Jake, and a PB as well, which puts you in #2 spot for WA for grand masters for 2013!

A pretty handy distance too. Now look who has all the beans...

A good thing I didn't go to Safety Bay. When you say the run was lumpy, do you mean weed lumps or rough water?

Anita - Tom said the sand bank was lumpy, some little mountains almost out the water, needs a good breeze to level it off.

Mark, yeah, did kind of get lost, over the other side I couldn't tell where I was - always find it nerve-wracking down there 'cause I don't know where the shallow bits are. Found a few today though, destroyed my Maui boom front end. Yell

Super effort JJ. You did a Claude, and disappeared over to ClaudsvilleWink. Having two pink sails out there was confusing. Didn't know to yell abuse (for Stroppo) or wave.

Awesome team turnout today guys, Scarrgo was out also (on his formula gear because his slalom boom is broken) but he lent me his GPS. I lent him my gear after I'd finished and he had a good blast on it. Maybe I should have let him use his GPS as well...

I believe Chris was planning to sail at Shoalwater too.

JJ, I had a similar experience last time I tried an hour at Novara. Ended up waaaayyyyy downwind of where I thought I was. Shame about the boom!

Had plans to take my slalom gear for a spin before I fly out but alas when I was packing the car realized that I'd forgotten that the last time I was in perth I broke my main boom so out with the slalom and in with the formula

I was pretty worried the whole time up till when I got o  the water and found out how deep I was in

As it turns out it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be with a 10 but never the less not very practical upwind was very slow because of having to muscle the sail and board trim and then downwind despite the security of the chicken strap the board was still ducking and weaving I had a couple of close nose dives

Still all up good practice and interesting tuning

Sean, I need to get your GPS back to you for tomorrow. Can you call past on your way to Windforce?or let me know where you plan to sail and I'll bring it over. I can lend you a boom if you need one.

Yes I can pop in about 930 ish if your going to be availible but theres no desperation as im sailing on a boat not on the windsurfer so I was just going down to the shop to have a look while I have the chance
