3666 days ago Top Ten Fangyland Day - Absolutely stoked that Fangyland has finally delivered on all the speed runs today. The inner run was finally open for business and it was fangtastic. It was great to see Manbras and Coastal Nannas reaping the rewards at last. Briiliant day for me too and will post more later - have to sort out kids and dinner...
I sat in the Primary school end of year assembly trying very hard not to notice the gum trees behind her swaying enthusiastically in the sea breeze. Elmo had not helped by ringing me on his way to work,a few minutes after dawn, to tell me the sea breeze was in. School duties dispensed with I was at Fangys just aft6er lunch. Fin was on his way out already and Decrepit and Stropoo were close behind. Grumpynuts,Wazzakamikaze, and Rod followed on later after I had left. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone’s posts as I think they are going to be great.
I went for my favourite the Koncept 6.6 paired in a delicious combination with a Delta 20 that I had hotglue gunned on earlier. Speed boards were seeing the first light of day for quite some time all around me. I was a bit sad my speed board-to-be ’Loreena B’ is still in surgery - today would have been awesome for her.
I hit the soup and checked out the top end weed bank. A patch of very smooth water awaited there. But it was too short. I think also the weed a little too draggy to go super fast in. Popping out the bottom of the weed bank into the estuary chop at speed was just too much for me so I had a crack at a leg trembling double nauti to get myself back down to Fangy’s inside run.
Once I had arrived at the inside run, having travelled so fast it was now yesterday, I was presented with some fabulous water. Fangy’s inside run was almost as good as it gets. Each run was seriously sphincter tight fast. Blisteringly fast for me. Soooo much fun.
Going back up hill was almost as much fun. The wind strength allowed the trip to be done in one tack, with the added bonus of watching Stropoo flying so fast that his Gaye Pryde pink sail actually changed colour to an orange. I guess it must as a result of doppler effect on light when an object is approaching the speed of light. He is one fast Nanna.
On one run I was watching the master, Decrepit absolutely locked down and hammering. Even if I hadn’t had a good day myself, it would have still been worth the price of admission to watch the legend at work. For someone who weighs less than my kids’ lunch box, he is seriously sorted out when speeding.
A downside? Well mainly for Mr Ray..again. Going back up hill into the sun meant that if you did not pay attention to the water in front of you looking for those wingtips breaking the surface then there was a chance you might get stopped by a mobile speed bump. I was too busy watching the other guys when I hit. Even with a Delta i got stopped quickly after a season best catapult . When I figured out which planet I was on I looked for the ray. He was a big bugger and seemed to be nonchalantly cruising off. It wasn't until I got to the top of the run that I noticed the consequences of my sudden stop. The lower cam completely blown off, but with a bit of wrestling I was back in business.
A few more sphincter speed runs and it was time to meet the kids coming home from school so I had to bail. This was too soon, but the burden of parenthood conscience would have sunk me in the water if I hadn’t . Even so it was a sensational little session on the inside run at last and I can happily say a Top Ten Fangy Day.

Huge congrats to Fangy on the PB's
Got down the run late (as per usual) as most were getting of the water Novara was was wall to wall white caps, rigged for the lulls as the was a huge range between the gusts and base breeze and the wind was up and down according to seabreeze.
Took of had headed through the mental chop near the rock garden spotted my flats which were flat unfortunately I hit 2 clumps of weed, one which stopped me the other which gave me a good look around the front of the mast, so I went and headed over to Claudesville.
The reality was it was windy and then ffffffffff'ken windy the chop what wasn't trying to be blown flat was heading towards shoulder high in the middle and quite junky, I did one run over to Claudesville hoping the at the breeze would back of a touch further inland and the water would flatten out, it didn't so turned around and headed back, which seemed to work a bit better especially when you see a wave looming up and a big drop of on the other side being able to bear of in front of it.
You know it's windy when you get 3x 24knot Nm's in the one run, well happy with that considering the conditions.
Got back the base and flagged it as to hairy for solo runs
He who fights and runs away lives to run another day
Next time its like that I might try a wave board and sail.

Channel sailing the southerly in very gusty conditions. Couldnt do any bear aways except in the chop, but that was fun all the same.
Great PBs Fangman, well done!!!

Afternoon rig up as the wind was, accordingly to the BOM Mandurah Observations, blowing 15-16 knots, gusting to 25 knots. There were boards everywhere, flying downwind, flying upwind too...high speed stuff...all looked worringly fast to me.experiences. I rigged my North 5.3 Idol on the battle-scarred F2 Vento and reconstituted 22 Delta. After hitting the water the rig never felt quite right, getting thrown around in the gusts when working upwind especially. I should have returned to port to assess and adjust but I ploughed on, just waiting for a disastrous prang, which fortunately never quite happened but never, ever felt far away. Called it quits early and general consensus was "More Downhaul" ( is there any other diagnosis?) and possibly " Even More Downhaul". It was great to watch the "A Graders".....some serious velocities were achieved. On the positive side.... I live to sail another day. Specifically, tomorrow.

3666 days ago Just want to say. -- FANTASTIC Fangy!!!
Went with the forecast today, and rigged for the gusts. Pluged the 5.0 koncept into the 43 speed board with the newly modified 18cm 47deg weedy. Have to say this combo works great, every thing felt balanced and comfortable. The weed wasn't right on the surface so there was a bit of chop, but it meant that a delta wasn't really needed, I didn't feel any "tugs" with the weedy.
Concentrated on NMs today, and very pleased with the results, I've got a 5XNM of 32.54, and the best of them is less than .1kt off a PB. I should have listened more carefull to Fangy, if I'd started the run where he said, it may have happened. As it was I ran into the sbend carpark chop and had to ease off about 200m short.
tried a few alphas on the way back upwind, very pleased with how the little board gybes, but it sure felt different!
