Well it was fun after all.

Delta fins not so good but over there they need to be in use.

Thanks George for lending a fin.

Jp84/ Koncept 6.6/ Delta21

Board too small and a bit underpowered, but was still fun in the gusts. Great to share the rain with Rick, Artur and the locals

Canton Beach, NSW, AU

A fairly difficult day of sailing. The wind was up and down quite a lot till the later afternoon when it started blowing stronger from the south. I was fairly worn out by then so only had a few runs. I mainly used my smaller board thats around 80 litres in volume. It was too small most of the day wearing me out. I borrowed a Starboard S Type 115 and it was much better. However it had a pointer fin. I could actually sail at Canton Beach with this fin and it wasn't too bad. It was fun for the time I rode it. I'd like to buy a board of around this volume.

Nice one guys!

I'm with you on the Delta fins Artur. I don't much enjoy sailing with them, but if you want to sail fast at Budgewoi there is no other choice.

Nice one guys. I wasn't too keen to brave Bestic street. Guys, please give me a call or text next time... I was thinking of heading North but I'm never sure where to go and have no one to go with :(

great to see you posting Karl, why didn't you come on the other side?

Nige you need a Delta fin for Budgewoi and Prymbee, I have a spare one that I keep for the Demerits. Also in strong Southerlies we go to the George river's sailing club, the one near the bridge. The site is safe in southerlies because it's onshore. If you want to come out send me a message and I'll let you know where we're heading.

I'm not too keen on Budgewoi in a southerly, the forecast direction on Sunday. When the wind finally turned southerly and strengthened it was great at Canton Beach. I had a couple of broad reaches down to the far end. The water was a bit choppy but not too bad which makes these runs a lot of fun. Its just by then I was pretty tired as I'd spent a couple of hours on a sinky board that would hit the bottom in the lulls and then when the wind came there would be a huge amount of resistance. It stuffed me.

I'll keep an eye out for a board around 110 to 120 litres. I really enjoyed sailing the S-Type 115 even though it had an old pointer fin. I popped a couple of little jumps on the S-Type. Its surreal sailing Canton with a pointer and not picking up clumps of weed.

Nigel I posted on Saturday the DD Facebook site timeline I was planning to go to Canton Beach. George did you see me on the highway?

No I didn't see you, but there was a van following me and it turned out it was Rick. How is the weed at Canton? speed sailors are all going to Budgewoi, but its very shallow now. Yes, go for a 100+ board, relying on a sinker is too much work and you are limited to strong wind days, you miss on a lot of sailable time here in Sydney.

The weed at Canton has been pretty well removed. There is a bit of it but not much. No more than somewhere like Brisbane Waters or Narabeen Lake. It was fun sailing there with a pointer fin though a moderate angled fin would be more appropriate, maybe a 40 degree rake.

I must've missed it Karl. Thanks for posting... I'll keep a closer eye on the DD page in future.

BTW, I'm thinking of heading to Sanctuary Point tomorrow if anyone's interested. Hopefully there'll be a nice NE'r down there.
