Coodanup, WA, Patrik FSW 102/86, Turbo 6.0m, Choco 27

First ever session at Coodanup, plenty of good company from the Pinnaroos, CST and a Wannabee (who was smokin!).

Great spot! A PB for the FSW.

Thanks Stroppo and Shano for the local tips.

Pinnaroo Point, WA, AU Tabou Rocket 125, 36 Weed JP, Easy chitta 6.5. It was good choice althought it was very lumpy. I was surprised to get even near close to 30 kts. Still fun with the locals.

Coodanup, Fangy's

Big turn out at Fangy's - good seeing a few newbies enjoying the spot.

A bit choppy for speed so chased NMs instead. Only did one alpha so happy it counted although it was a bit tight.

When I left at 6 there were still a bunch out racking up huge kms - go Lunny and Ricey Cool

Mistral 47, M91 (same speeds),  Koncept 7 and 6.2, Vector DWS 22.5

Light wind to start so rigged 7.5 Turbo, 125 Rocket, 24 Delta.

Wind picked up so changed to 5.0 Koncept, 80 Xfire, 19 Delta - big change

Very happy with the new PB distance although Lunny did over 100 nm in roughly the same time I did about 75nm.

Stlll, I managed to exceed my age in nms.

Good to see Lunny, Patrick, Alan, Anita and Leon, as well as Stroppo, Fangy and several others of the MandMob

Coodanup, WA, AU

Big day out in Fangys playground, resembled the Swan river with the amount of crew out today. Around 1/2 dozen out till sunset, and the last one in was Ricey, what a machine. Sure is a good spot. Even with today being a little rougher than usual its flatter than I'm used to.

Great Day with a great bunch of people.

Now for another beerSmile

RRD xfire 102, overdrive 7.5, Delta 21.  Mistral 91, ReflexIII 6.2, vector DWS 27

*just noticed the km to nm is a bit off. GT31 says 102.1nm. No biggy but a lesson to do a bit more than planned next time

Good to see that I can still remember how to do this!

Got to try a new fin on the Acid today, bit of weed about and the wind had weird holes in it.  Still, I managed to stay upright all through the first tack of the day!  As I was sailing away I started to go all gangsta in my head, "You wanna piece of this? "  Feeling pretty chuffed Laughing

Looks like i've fixed that 700 px image upload issue as well.

Fangyland, 6.4K M91 23PW, the 5.7K M41 21Tribal

Wind was lightish when we arrived - others were out on 7.5. Having not brought anything bigger than 6.4 I rigged that expecting to be underdone. Rigged the 5.8 for Leon. Leon set off, then the wind kicked in. People were coming in to change down but I couldn't go smaller because Leon was using the mast. Decided to tough it out on the 6.4. I really wanted to try for a good hour but kept getting slammed in the gybes. Thanks Hardie for confirming I was overpowered. I quit beating myself up about  the gybing after that. I did manage a top 3 gybe even so - I think that was earlier when the wind was not so strong. I did watch some beautiful gybing demos by Hardie, Stroppo, Chris and Paul. I dream of being able to gybe like that one day.

Changed down after Leon stopped and got some better speeds but was tired after my effort with the 6.4.

My day was improved by a wonderful team turnout. Great to see Mark sailing with us again, and great to see Patrick make the journey. Best was Lunny's 100nm effort, and Ricey doing more than 1 nm for each year of his life. Thanks also to Mark for his distance backup. he didn't realise Ricey was still out there going for gold!

Session to keep Speedy honest Laughing (pretty even) and meet up with the team.

Good to see so many out putting in the hard yards and congrats on the PBs.

Haven't sailed till sunset in a while.

Started with the 6.8 Loft Switchblade for the hour on the Tushingham rdm. Sail pulls nicely but still a bit backhanded in the gusts. Really like the way it pulls you in to the gybe. More tuning to do.

Switched to the old faithful 6.3 Blade and it felt so comfy just needed more wind. The MXR 22 weedy went well in the flat stuff surprisingly but could feel it dragging a bit of weed in the shallows. A few nice squirts but left you wanting more.

Did one naughty right at the end to keep Speedy from nagging me but didn't go high enough.

M SL91, Loft switchblade 6.8/ Choco weed 27 then Blade 6.3 / MXR 22 and 2kg lead.

EDIT: You can definitely see the potential of this place for a good Hr. Had a look at mine and it had 33 gybes with an average run of about 1.3Km closer in than the CST guys.

Going further out to get the longer runs and cut the gybes down won't make it into a magic 27 like Stroppo but it will be good.

Well done on the PB's guys, no sailing for me until next month, was on Saigon river today. You reckon we have issues with weeds check out the water hyacinth. This is all just floating on the surface of a quite fast flowing river. I guess eventually a lot of it ends up in the ocean.

Saigon River, afternoon.

David, maybe we need a categoy of age divided by distance , I think you would be winning that on hands down, well done!

Huge session Lunny, and congratulations on top distance for the day - and there were some big ones! Very nice nm and hour also. I am glad someone was backing up Mark's hour.

Congrats on the distance PB Ricey. It's not long since you were trying to beat my distance. You've left me way behind now!

Nebbian - good to see you posting, and thanks for all your hard work on our much beloved GPSTC site.

Congrats on the alpha Bono! That's a very nice corner. I was trying for a good one yesterday but found it very difficult.

Mark, lovely smooth gybes in your tracks. Nice rounded arcs.

It was definitely a top 5 Fangy day yetserday, with 6 sailors getting scores in their top 5, even if they missed out on PBs.

Alan and Lunny had four, Ricey 3, Bono 2, and JJ and I had one each. We tend to think of JJ as the nm master and expect him to get big numbers, but his 33.49 yesterday was a top 5 score for him.

Well done team! Big efforts all round, and Pinnaroos back in 4th spot!

Obelix, I am still struggling with gybes too. It is a slow progression but as long as you keep trying progress will happen.

No the corolla is a hatch- I got RSI  just before I bought it and thought I'd never be able to sail again ( hence the hatchback).I was medically retired and it took 10 years but now I am ok again and  I wish I'd bought a wagon! Luckily I can borrow a van occasionally.

Congrats on all the PBs guys.  Big K's and sweet nm Lunny and big k's too Ricey.  Top of the pile again JJ - not too shabby on only doing one alpha too.

Nebs, Good to see you getting out and a big thanks for fixing the glitches.
