Coodanup, Mistral 112, KA 7.3, Delta 21 slalom - just couldnt get it balanced today, maybe the sail was too big but it didnt feel like that. Fin did seem to have trouble holding on when powered up. I guess you have to have those not quite in the groove days to make the good ones feel great ! Geoff was smoking me on a 5.8 so I should have just been doing whatever he was. I did take some of the old black stretchy gaffa tape of the holes in the sail and replaced it with clear, perhaps thats where I went wrong.

Coodanup, WA, AU M91 5.7K, 21 delta wih a bunch of Coastals, Mandurah Mob, Pit Crew, a few Pinnaroos and a Cremaster

Same gear I have used for the last two sessions. First time underpowered. Second time overpowered. Today, just right. A Goldilocks day. One of those cruisy days where eveything feels well balanced and right with the world.

I guess my good luck started this morning when I took my dripro pack back to Whitworths because it was splitting. They offered me a replacement, and I bought a second pack as a Christmas present. As luck would have it the dripro packs are only half the price they used to be, so I got my two packs, and change as well!

Back to the session. Light wind when I arrived so I took my time getting ready and decided it was another day for gybe practice so I rigged small. I would normally have gone for the 6.5. The gybes were going well today and felt the best they have in a long time. I still need to improve the rig flip but I think I can see what needs to be done now, just not quite sure how to do it.

It was fun to meet Sailquik again and to meet Matt, Saltynic, Chinaman and Isaac

I think that hour will be in my top 5, which is pretty amazing because I stopped for a chat in the middle of it (I wasn't trying for an hour).

Three top 5 scores today. Pretty amazing for a light wind day. I shouldn't have stopped for that chat...

Lots of gybes faster than the PB but at 60 or 70m proximity. My third fastest alpha of the day was actually a tack!

Now who was that cheeky B who zoomed up behind me so close they actually bumped my behind with the nose of their board? It sounded like a freight train coming !

Definitely a top 10 Fangy day!!

Danijel, I might have to go back to Fangys again...

It's a great place to learn to gybe. No waterstarts, flat water, consistent wind. You should come down sometime.

Congrats on the alpha PB Anita! I always find alpha Pbs the most satisfying as it's so hard to get them right.

Thanks everyone! Your encouragement has helped me to keep trying. Alphas have been extremely frustrating for me.

Given how long it takes to make an increment of improvement, I feel that 20 knot alpha may still be a long way off.

Anita, it took all of us 100s and 100s of Alphas and falls before getting there! One day it will click for you, that day you will be un-stopable Tongue out

Maybe one day do only A, nothing else..

Look Mike and Joe, sometime thats what they do all session AAAAAAAAA (the fight for the crown Laughing)

Sammy - I have already done thousands of alphas. I wish I had counted them all... I am just not very coordinated, and I forget quickly. If you had been reading my posts during the winter most of them were just gybe practice - about 40 in a session. Yesterday was just gybe practice - the nm was just the run home. I find toward the end of the session I am doing fairly well, then next time I fall back into my old bad habits and it takes me about an hour to start getting them right again. Different conditions and different gear all the time doesn't help. I just get my confidence up and then next session conditions are different and I do terribly.

I shall persist... starting to see some improvement at least

Thanks Sammy. Hardy has promised me a tutorial. At the moment I am working on getting around smoothly, not working too much on the entry speed because the faster I am going the more likely I am to mess up. Entry speed mostly 20-22 knots. The faster ones are the ones which go too wide.

You are doing great Anita. Never mind the alpha speed PB. You are doing them constently which is great.

May need to look for all these spots. They all sound so remote... Coodanup, Fangy's, Navara...  I'm yet to visit Safety Bay Embarassed.

Coodanup is Fangys....

I'll make up a map for you.

They're not hard to find, you just have to find the time for a drive. Mineral and Jeff and Geoff are up your way and they manage it.
