Peel Inlet, WA, AU

It was an interesting trip to liptons today. When I arrived I relaised that I had left my box of fins at home luckily JJ and Craig were on hand to give me what I needed. I had all the right bits of gear but should have been faster. I had to leave early as have a function this evening, sorry I could not return yous fin and screws JJ and Craig I will get them back ASAP please email me your address and I will bring them arround tomorrow. It was getting better when I left with the gusts getting up to 35 according to one og the kiters who hand a meter.

When I left Craig, JJ were smashing it and Snak had just arrived I think.

I am sure they will get some good nimbers.

Loft free ride 6.6, 23 Delta 135 Tabou

Fangland, good day on the water down there, got to hot for the 6.6 in the end. Too buggered to change down, both in board and sail size.

Still stuck in the 30 range with the delta fin. should have gone a weedy in the end. Undecided

That many there, we need a new car park to fit everybody in.Smile

I owe Hardy, Mandurah Mob, a few beers, for his help packing up, thanks mate. will get it sorted for you. Wink

Pelican Point. Mostly overpowered on 6m today, but a lot of fun in strong winds and big chop.

Patrick brought his "Patrick" freeride 125 for me to have a go and fitted it with one of Lockwood carbon fins (so much confidence I won't break either Wink ).

The board impressed me very much, as it feels much smaller and is extremely soft in chop. Feels like flying over the chop without hitting any waves. So good - I can see why you like these boards.

I'll be on  a lookout for the larger size of that board. Thanks Patrick. Appreciate you bringing it down just do I can try it.

Then swapped for 96L FSW wreck and went a accross a few times having so much fun. A great day Laughing

Tailwind. some impressive speed there. Congratualtions.

Coodanup, 6.6 and CA Speed, felt good but just couldnt get over that 34.8 top speed, got it a couple of times. I think Fangy had filled the car parking with decoys to try and deter us but it didnt work. I suspect that may also be the plan with the posts, if they keep multiplying at this rate you wont be able to get into the water at all. Alsp not sure what the large floppy yellow thing on top of one of them is meant to represent (and is it life sized?)

And there you go a PB 5x10 - didnt expect that one, but the long runs give you plenty of time at good speed so it makes sense.

Awesome afternoon at Liptons with a great crew of Pinnas and the SRMs PDSmile Well powered for most of it. Quite like the F2, pretty friendly to use. Good to meet Chris finally, we must just keep crossing paths.

Peel Inlet, Liptons, Point Grey

Super fun - nice Pinnas turnout - Andrew, Craig, Chris and Jake. Good 25 knot wind, a bit gusty behind the point.

Perfect small chop for speed - kept the board alive and on the fin. Stbd tack was the go, only got 37s on port.

Transitioning from 38 knots at the end of the flats into the swell lines made the NMs interesting, happy to get two 33's.

Craig was smoking today. Andrew holding the power down well.

Nice to sail early on with Dansy.

M47,  KA 6.2, CL SW 22 then swapped to CL Tribal Assy 21 (stbd tack) - first go with this fin, very nice Cool

Liptons mission with my friend Pete, and good to see Snake, JJ and Lunny there.

All the conditions were right for good speed, but it just wasn't happening for me today. Out of condition and fighting the sail the whole time. My arms are still all pumped up.

Impressive to see JJ scream by within a few meters going 41 knots!

Coodanup, WA, AU 5.7K M91 then M47 21 delta then 17 delta

It felt like a fairly ordinary session so I'm surprised to get a PB (by a smidgeon), and the 5X was in my top 5 too. I only did one nm run and that was the run home. The wind had dropped off and I thought I'd better get home while I could. The wind picked up again later...

I really wanted a better 2 sec but Just couldn't get the acceleration off the wind today. I was going to come in and change to a Tribal fin but as I said, it looked like the wind was dying...

Good to catch up with Daffy again. Thanks for the gybing tips. I shall try them out before I get fatigued next time.

I have never seen so many cars at Fangys. John St was full from end to end.

Good to see the boys in blue patrolling. Hopefully they will keep the thieves away if they haven't caught them yet.

Disappointment of the day - finding out the valve in my hydration pack is faulty and all my drink had drained away before I had even set off.

Major disappointment of the day - speed chat calling out 36's and even a 37(that's a PB for GPS logit) when the GT 31 was only reading 30's

Highlight of the day - JJs 41.6, and Pinnaroos in #1 spot.

Coodanup - IS89, Turbo6.5, Delta23.  Didn't seem to do it for me... I had the need for speed and was hoping on some decent numbers.  45 minutes of looking at others and I couldn't work out any line to follow.

WOW to all the PB's! Nice job!

Liptons. Fun arvo out at Point Grey with Chris, JJ, Lunny and Peter.

Rigged everything wrong today (too much downhaul, mast too far forward) and the wind wasn't as strong as I'd hoped it would be, but still got a few powered up sections in. The biggest problem was I wasn't confident runnning into the flats of Pt Grey and was catching weed a fair bit, so all the runs were tiny little squirts near the edge. Load up, bear away, and then gybe away before the weed trap after about 2 seconds. Not ideal, but my fault for not having a speed-oriented weedy by now. Probably have to look at getting one of those tribal? ones. Bif of a shame, because the wind in the channel felt good, but I just wasn't able to point where I wanted with confidence today. Should have gone the beaver option in the end - it probably would have been a cleaner, longer run in stronger wind and with less weed. Late to the xmas dinner, but only by 15 mins.

Just checked my sessions for 2015. I've only sailed 20 times or so. Absolutely disgraceful.

Anita great Nm.

I have to say watching you gybe today. You need to bend those knees more so you can really drive you board through the turn. More speed going in, let the sail pull you forward.

Foot change and rig flip, if you do the foot change sooner you can hold more speed and have the momentum to flip the rig before speed drops off. Be more proactive if you can flip early you have more power in sail as your on a broad reach out. I think if you can work on these things you will be hitting 20kn in no time.

Im no expert but I saw a few of your gybes today and alot of othes doing them, these are just things I picked up as i know sometimes it is hard to know exacty what you are doing.

Thanks everybody, and for the advice, Raygun. I remember when you were struggling with gybes, and look at the flying ones you do now, and it gives me encouragement. What you say makes sense. Making myself move sooner is difficult. I am not good at doing anything quickly, and I get a bit paralysed when I'm going around a corner at speed. I know what needs to be done but I can't make myself do it. Fear of pranging at speed I guess. I think for so long I struggled to complete any gybe, that getting around dry was the number one objective, and that has made me overcautious. I now need to abandon the safe gybe and go for some risky ones.

Great effort on the PB's guys well done, great team turn out Cool

Special mention for our skipper, every time I see a PB against her session,Cool

I still hear her saying when we asked her to team up with our mostly lot "oh I don’t think I would be good enough, and drag the team down"

With daily weather updates and encouragement, and her leadership and drive, has moved our motley lot well up the table.

Not to belittle the previous team Captain, who has to be one of our corner stones of the team, Smile

The current Captain being a lady, has to be in my book, GPSTC team Captain of the year.CoolCool

Mineral great to have a chat and thanks for 'pointing' at one of the Coastal Nannas for a change. Shaw get rid of that GPS, its obviously faulty! Jeff a pb always make the drive worthwhile, well done- you look faster every time I see you.  Jake,JJ and Craig - sooo fast-well done lads ( this bit was said through gritted teeth - you killed us out of top spotYellTongue out).

Jake, I hope you have put in an order with Santa for a tribal weedie for Christmas. I have.

I can't say enough about them. So much acceleration, and they are fine for Liptons/Coodanup weed. I was wishing I had used mine yesterday. I might have cracked that 34 I have been trying for. I was going to come in and change to it but I thought the wind was fizzling out.

Mineral, thanks very much. It's still a good thing the team doesn't rely on me to contribute to the score! I am lucky to get one jellybean per year. I wish I could lead by example like Decrepit and lao, but  that's not ever going to happen. Fortunately, JJ, (my unofficial vice captain) is a champion at setting numbers to chase. The most I can do is keep trying to improve, and I am pleased that I have replaced 80% of my top 5 scores this year. That one at the top of my 2 sec list is really bugging me!

As far as captaining, the Pinnaroos are a pretty easy team to manage. They know what needs to be done and they just go out and do it. I don't even need to be there. Half the time I don't even know who is going where.  A bit of advice as to where and when to get the best speeds is all I provide, and on occasion, a request to stop playing in the waves and join the team on a road trip.

Thanks friends, for all the effort you have put in this year, and it does take dedication to the team effort. We don't get results by just cruising around on the balmy days. It requires a lot of travelling to be competitive, and often the sailing is more like hard work, but we have had a lot of fun along the way.

This is sounding too much like an end of year speech. Still 11 days to go. We can't afford to relax yet...
