Hardie (35839km): Liptons Alpha practice today, wind was a couple of knots lighter. Body felt sore and fatigued so rigged smaller and went for alphas. Pretty happy with result a couple felt really sweet and fast. Mistral Speed 95, TR7 5.8m, Pepeweed 22/48 Elmo was out today and redeemed himself, good to see
Stretch (31360km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. CA52/Tushy5.8. Sailing with Noel and John. Rigged too small, thinking the winds would lift further as forecast.... of course they didnt. Had a fun sail regardless
Elmo (31592km): JP SS 100L, NP E7 7.0m, Elmo Fin of death 26.5cm Redemption sail, task achieved.....in true Elmo fashion. Sailed liptons with Hardz, Thought I'd try a different fin. First run, Franga is putting his little pricker in his inflatable Elmo again (a blow up Sinderella doll with a Red wig does not make an Elmo) hooked in pointed the board down the run, then Ker Pow, Ker Splat, Red fur everywhere! fin had let go splatacularly leading to an instant catapult. That was a good start to proceedings, the fin was unstable the whole session but reasonably quickly sussed how to limit the damage (or the potential thereoff) Got some nice little squirts going and a few nice corners, best alphas were over on point grey. Going to have to go exploring in the shed try and find the floor, dig out Ye olde Pepe Mk1 mould and bang out some new fins, hopefulyy I should be able to get a few more from it. A much better session than yesterday. Great sailing with The Master watching him chuck "U"ies
Sammy the snail (29353km): Safety Bay, 5ish quick session, I came late to get the tide right.. It looked windy so I opt for 5.4 for change.. Lunny came back as I was going out, then decided to to go back out to keep me compagny and have some more fun, thanks man Sld have used 5.8, as the wind fade off a bit but it was very pleasent to be back on the bar, not a bad mini session Iso85L, RSR5.4, LSW23
(Puf-) fin (15573km): Coodanup WA Another "fun in the wind" day at fangys with some exsitment as the water bomers where buzzing a bush fire. Similar condition to yesterday to start,... had the f2 SX-R58, ka kon5.8, elmo60/17cm and not much weed.???

fangy (22687km): Fangys for another foreshortened sail - this time courtesy of a tradie who thought he was DrWho such was his mastery of time. Or not. I had organised kids off to friends places and I had the whole arvo free. All I had to do was wait for the trade to turn up……
As I got organised, a fire broke out in the bushland at the head of the Serpentine. It quickly went ballistic, and soon after the fixed wing and helicopter water bombers arrived to try and quell the blaze. It took them a number of spectacular bombing runs, but by the time we came in, there was little smoke visible. When I finally got down to the water, I decided it was time to give the old floppy tail Windtech a dusting off. I wanted to try it out for the first time in a sea breeze on flatfish water.I chucked in one of my rare tuttlebox Deltas and topped it off with the Duct Tape 7.5 The Windtech is a relatively thin in width at 54 cm and has had a lot of nip and tuck of its square bum, topped off with its carbon floppy tail. I have gotten used to the skinny tails, lots of V and excessive weight of my older boards. But I was still surpised at how sticky and unwillingly the Windtech was to get up and plane. However, after more pumping than a kiters convention, and the old beast was up an planning, it was a sweet ride. The board also has a fairly straightt outline so I was a bit nervous as to how well it would handle corners with a bit of speed and dunderklompen foot placement. Triple figure kegs sorted out any ideas that the board might have had aboiut not doing what I wanted, but it was not pretty. I really need a lot more wind for this board and a lot more tuning/practice. So, although at the moment the jury is well and truly undecided on its fancy bum work, I am looking forward to some time in the right conditions to master its unforgiving nature.
A bit frustrating at times, but still aTop ten Fangy day. :-)
