A quick hour of power with decent speeds and a sharp corner... :)

I recon i could have held on to my 7.8 and if i was less of a chicken i should have sailed in the shallows for better speed..

Fun racing at Cervantes, totally spent. Choppy conditions later in the days racing some bloody good sailors in the slalom series.

Couldn't resist a couple of NMs at about 2pm - after teaching my nephew using the hire trailer's excellent learner kit. Wind about 18 knots.

Got down early and did a few runs over the sandbank while the traffic was minimal. Changed fins to the 34 falcon and mast track to the middle and set off for Peli Point. First time to go that far downwind at melville. It was a challenge dodging the chop and big yatchs and it felt like I was way overpowered going downwind with some scary moments. Coming back upwind was a lot more comfortable. A bit of an adventure today.Cool

Ken, we can go back to calling you kilometer Ken. Congratulations on the distance PB and the naughty too. Sounds ike it was a lot more challenging than the Coodanup nm last weekend.

Well done Ken - keep practicing the long bearaways and you'll crank up that NM speed in no time. The trick is to simultaneously keep a watch on the wind 100m ahead upwind and the swell pattern 20m downwind :)

Anita yes it was not as cruisy as coodanup hehe. Cheers JJ . I assume you bear away more in the lulls? Ill give it another go today.

Depends. If it looks like a big long lull I may luff up to keep pressure in the sail (and accept a loss in speed).

I'll ride a swell downwind to keep the speed up if it looks like a short lull.

Gusty river NMs are tough, it's a bit of a guessing game - easy to get it wrong and end up with a big drop in speed in the middle of your NM Frown

I think you develop a bit of a feel for it with practice Laughing
