2855 days ago Quick sail before heading off to see The Boss. Tide was in enough for my some Chutney Runs and I was able to use both Fangy MkI and MkII fins to compare. The MkII, in today's conditions, was the clear winner and I am starting to feel very confident on the fin. Still no spin outs, and otherwise well behaved. The turbo whistle is starting to get addictive too...( and way better than Eric Carmen Slugger ;-). Gotta run and get to the gig

2855 days ago 2 categories Peel Inlet, WA, AU, used KA72 to post if anyone interested in tracks or google earth, very lucky to have this speed venue 2 mins from home. Conditions were gusty as can be seen by the nearly 3 kts difference in peak speed and 5x10. The top sailors made the most of it with at least 3 people cracking 40kts that I've heard of, congrats to those sailors, it wasnt easy today.
Mistral Speed 95, TR9 6.3m with non-recommended mast (my replacement is crossing the Nullabor as we speak), pepeweed 22/48.

2855 days ago 1 categories Another fun liptons sail, I called an alpha day, so rigged for that, 48, 5.4 and 19cm 40-55deg weedy.
Went out early and played at Pt Grey, before tide and wind made it too hard for me to do any good.
Got the 25 on the watch fairly early, but couldn't improve it, wind seemed to back off a bit, tide came in and increased the chop, so had a go at speed runs instead, wind swung more southerly and the venue switched to liptons. Should have plugged the 5.8 into the 43, but it was getting a bit late, and my shoulder didn't want to know about the extra load. So just stuck with what I had.
Again a good crew out, apart from the usual suspects, it was nice to see Evets up from Albany again, 25 and slowy also put in an appearance.
Here's the watch results.

The forecast was perdicted to be strong enough to remove Hardz's new under garments so I rigged the 6.4m today expecting to be blown of the water, started out with the SS as the forcast wind was down the Pub hiding from Doddi's latest self inflicted woumds.
Highest tide down at Liptons for a very long while.
Had a lot of fun runs over on Pt Grey with the SS till the wind faded a bit over there.
getting some nice runs into the corner but mostly maxing out about 36, Eventually after 5 the wind started building so when I got a 38 decided it was time to attempt bthe small board which in itself was optemistic as my arms were feeling a bit second hand.
The small coard was the right choice, pain in the freckle to get going but once up and going was very nice indeedy do.
Good turnout with Boz Slickmezzie, Tailwind and Slowie venturing south today.
Although the forecast didn't realy eventuate it was still a great sail with lots of fun to be had out there.
Huge congrats to Simon for the Hattrick of PB's well done mate

Another drive up to liptons for a good forecast. It looked quite winds, decided on the 5.8 having faffed around and discussed sail sizing with several.
Great to be on the water with friends i the sun and wind. Lots of happy faces out there. Saw one amazing dismount at the end of a gybe, person was on a CA speed board and looked good through the turn then suddenly WHAM and he was splatered. Fortunately he was not hurt. Actually I did a couple like that too. Gybing the 5.8 on the 45wide board is quite different than gybing the 5.4 I just have to remember to sweep it back behind me while I turn the board when I am already way off the wind at the end of a speed run.
Should have rigged the 6.3, wind never became stron, I was on the run once when I was powered.
Oaf was smashing out some sensational looking alphas, your pb was well deserved Paul, most of us can learn from your excellent style.
Left MH at 5, back home at exactly 9 as discussed my my beloved.
One day I shall go faster, I suspect it will be on my home waters which DRC and Elmo showed is achievable in a westerly ( which tend to be stronger in Albany)

2854 days ago Liptons sess with the gang . way too optimistic with the forecast (sorry guys if i made u believe! )
Was some nice bullets, hard to catch ifdont have the correct gear. Rigged up the 5.4 and M47 hoping for blistering wind, end up going wiz the Iso56, undercooked but still fun, EOD wind picked up a bit so had 1 attempt of the 47, was so gusty I got stocked on the other side.. called it.. was pointless!
Great to catchup wiz all, well done guys for a great month achievement , PRIDE to be part of the MMobsters, not bad for a bunch of cripples oldies pensioners
Iso85L, RSR5.4, LSW23.. not bad sesh!

My lovely wife made some time tonight so I could get a quick sail after work. Was great to get out, hit the water after 6. Saw Decripit and Fin briefly before going on the water, as we switched over to the evening shift. Captain said, we need a 26 alpha please, I said "No worries captain, too easy" (not really, sounded like a big ask) Looks like we did alright though. Great to see so many still out when I got there today.
