Productive windfoil session this morning on the JP Hydrofoil 135, NP RS:Flight AL foil, Severne R6 6.2m.
Played with 2 different stabiliser settings, which was really interesting. After a couple of shaky runs I managed to settle down and focus. The amount of focus required is at another level compared to normal blasting on a windsurfer. Its quite difficult to stop the normal urge to hook in and go for it. As soon as you do it all comes unstuck pretty quickly. I must remember one word - finesse. Once I was in foil mode I had a some good flights where i actually felt in control and able to react in the correct way, even when over powered. I had reasonable control of ride height and was able to sail up and downwind much better. When it comes together and you feel in the groove its awesome. Then fatigue started to creep in and I started to loose it. Thankfully this cycle of nerves, foiling then fatigue seems to be improving with the foiling part of the cycle becoming larger. Still I have more to learn but the last 2 sessions i feel like I'm starting to understand what is going on as far as tuning and technique go. Its now starting to become more about time on the water and fitness, but I imagine as the skills and technique improve the fitness and stamina will become less of an issue. Hmmmm this process is all sounding familiar. I'm sure I've been here before???

yes another westerly, what a great sport. Some times a little overpowered in the gust with the 7m but overall was good.Terry said i better get a NM so went for longer runs next time i'll go for an alpha, Naish board so much easier to ride than the falcon, had a great time until i had to leave to pick up the kids from school. Pb's again mean i'm getting better.

Great midday sail. Rocked up and moaned about my fin selection yesterday. Keef came to the rescue with one of his Keef's Kustom Karbon Kreations. What a revelation. For such a small fin it gave amazing lift and never let go, with either the overpowered 7.0 or the 6.3. The fin inspired confidence and all bearaways were in the harness and fully cranked. The bearaways were short so I was always hoping for just the bit more breeze. The W49 ate up the conditions and the fin combo was the perfect match for these shallow conditions. I could easily beach start in ankle deep.
Keef, please accept this as a confirmed order, next time you use that mould. I'd get a lot of use of that fin !! Thanks for the loan !!
All the boys were flying today. The setup for fast nauti's is hard to beat anywhere else in NSW. So long as the back leg can hold out.
Looks like it picked up as I left so should still be more good posts from the arvo shift.
iSonic W49, Loft RB 7.0 then 6.3, Keef Custom Speed Fin with inlaid stainless tip (about 18cm).

Arrived for a late session after work again with Phil and Gerry. Looked more promising than yesterday so rigged the same. The wind was more consistant than yesterday so it was a better overall sail with a few bearaways in the bigger gusts, but I think we missed the best of it.
