Coodanup, WA, AU That was windy, easily blowing 30 to 35kts plus, had my TRX 5.5m, Mistral speed 95/55, and pepeweed 22/48, first five runs couldn' crack 30kts, too windy for me to bare offSurprised.  On the 6th run I had a go, the board got lifted off the water and I stacked, looked at GPS 29kts, I thought thats it for me for the day can;t afford to injure the back back to carpark tail firmly tucked between legsEmbarassed. Then Rob (Stretch) comes over and says he's got a PB **.*ktsCool, WooHoo, then O Oh, I've got to back him up for the teamEmbarassed.  So I swallowed a massive cement tablet, screamed like a girl, and got 39.87kts on the next run, and 40.00kts on the run after that.  Ok job done, live to sail another day, and save the back.

Coodanup, WA, AU. CA SP47/GPS6.0/Vector WS23. Good bunch at West Fangy's today and a good vibe with a bit of excitement in the air with some good pb conditions. Fangy gets the achievement of the day award for managing to collect and split his firewood whilst having a sail - top marks for efficiency!

Pretty happy with my results and also for the other guys who did some great speeds too. Top arvo, well worth the flexi work day Laughing

Way overdone on the 110 today but no smaller option at the moment. Great to see so many Mobbers on the water and got to see Oaf going flat chat on his speed board on his birthday. Used the correct mast in the 6.3 and looked instantly better.

OK, have changed my scores to what GPSResults says.

Fantastic day, heaps of PBs and big grins.

The haste to get out there, was evident by two of us having to walk back to get our harnesses.

Wind at first was mainly light with the odd strong gust coming through, I was thinking of rigging the 5.8, hoping it wqould get me through the lulls and not be too much in the gusts. But the gust strated to get more frequent and last longer, when I measure a 33kt peak, I decided to try the 5.4's top end, and stuck it in the 48 with newly filleted 20cm 55d. It all felt good except I just had too much couldn't hang on to the power.

So I went in for lunch and rigged the 5.0 with the 43cm board and 16cm 55d weedy. This was much better, a bit harder to get going, not enough fin at slow speeds, but out of the chop down the run it felt very nice.

Oh yes, the run, --- along the bottom end of creery island on the estuary side. We've tried here before in different wind directions without much luck, seesm like a WSW is when it turns on.

The fin has a very small dent in the leading edge but otherwise unscathed :-)

I posted on SB that I needed a crash test dummy for the FF20. It turned out it was me.

This is the result of me testing my cutdown FF20 ( to 18cm) on a chunk of someones jetty that was lying just below the surface just as I started to bear away.…

Score 1-0 to FF. It was unscathed. I will post the rest later, got to feed the snotgobblers :-)

It was such a big day out for the Mobbers I am not sure where to start. While I had my head down in the books, I get a call from the Cap’n from on site. Toby needs a fin. Happy to chuck in study for any excuse, I head on down and sort out Toby with a virgin FF20. Speaking of virgins, Sludge appeared and the remaining pristine FF20 with promises of coffee and cake and sparkles and unicorns and… The wind was ballistic so I didn’t hear the rest of what he said.

Back home to finish off the last page of study and then I joined the boys on the water.  Sludge was hanging on to a sail that was too big and Toby had set about making some mighty fine dents in the estuary. But both of them had the cojones in the gusts and went smoking off downhill. The end result; I am totally stoked that both Sludge and Toby racked up PB speeds on the FF20 on its first outing. ( I was well happy with the FF18 and I think in the right hands the fin has potential to be in the 40’s, even though I never intended it to be a speed fin.)

The Cap’n then showed what you can do when you weigh as much as a small bag of rice, but ignore all the physics and just put the hammer down. I just happened to be sitting at the end of the run when he clocked his highest speed. There is nothing like a windsurfer really hammering along. It looked brilliant.

The speeds just kept getting higher. Stretchy and Hards had hit the water. Hards went flying past sounding like he was back in the front row of the Justin Bieber concert. I thought it was the doppler effect due to his speed, but it turns out it was just too cold for his balls to have dropped.

In the meantime, Stretch just seemed to forget about playing safe with the other kids and rode his toothpick around the yard faster than anyone.

Inspired by the display of lack of self preservation, I thought I would give this speed thing a crack too. I was too overpowered on the Koncept 5.8 but I wanted to see what the FF18 could do.

I discovered it is very good at splitting wood. It happened on one of my first attempts to keep everything on the water and get some power down. I didn’t see the plank and after a helluva bang and a quick game of human bouncing bomb, waded back expecting to see a turtle neatly cleaved. Happily it was a chunk of wood, and even more happily the back of my board and fin all looked intact. That just left me a bit shaken up and thinking I might join Fin who had gone looking for cheap blouses at Kmart.

I eventually got my act together but was lacking a bit of confidence. Seeing a Cheer Squad in the shallows was all I needed to stop wobbling and give it a damn good go. Except somehow I let go of the sail at the crucial moment and then put in my submission for Biggest Dent in Estuary.  That hurt and so I dragged my arse back to base.

Luckily Sludge’s Cafe was serving coffees and cake, so I settled in for a social arvo, and watched as the Swindy, Jonski and ‘Ken headed out to smash it. It was good to hear  the mobbers  on such a high from a great day at the office, so although I was weaker than soggy tissue, it was a Top Ten Fangy Day, full stop.

Thanks again to my lovely wife for aranging to fetch the kids on a windy day. Was great to get out and my first time on the speed board in ages.  It felt great.

Was very surprised to see more than 1 or 2 cars in the car park when I arrived, it was packed. Looked like lots of happy faces derigging.  Only Jonski and me on the water by the time I got out and mostly had the speed runs to myself.

Great team session yet again, I think I missed the best of it but cant complain had a great time. Even got some cake from Slugger. First time on the 5.5 nice and comfortable and only overpowered on a few occasions, probably should have gone the 6.3. Good to meet Toby at last. Lucky there wasnt a mobile weigh bridge on the way home cos the solid 28 fangy fin would have put me over the limit. This will change though with the aid of some heavy industrial equipment.
