2313 days ago Lipton glass, my first Ice Bath for the winter, can't believe I actually enjoyed it. 35kts in the gusts, so wimped it and rigged 5.5m and 19cm/48rake weed fin which was going sideways in the choppy bits, oh well live and learn, I was a bit underpowered except for the strongest gusts, was fun. Im going to start sailing in winter again , the conditions were that good, any elite fit sailor would've been nudging 45's today
For reference the storm surge data was between 62 and 65cm, which for these conditions is ideal. There is a big weed bank in Liptons Bay, the lee of the weed bank is glassy, and running in and then beyound, chop would've benn 15 to 20cm.

2313 days ago I was just starting to get a handle on the little vintage Windtech, I was pretty happy I had the 5.8 and FF20 dialled in, so I decided to have a crack at a speed run. My first run went pretty nicely, but I ran a bit long and hit the chop at the end with not enough control. Things went bad very quickly. I didn't spin out, so I think I must have caught a rail, but otherwise, all I know now is my right arm is really sore and my fingers have pins and needles. The sacrificial Delrin nut in the front hole of my FF20 also gave way, so I think I clobbered that pretty hard as well. I will post more later when I can use both hands to type.

Stretch (31360km):
2313 days ago Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. FF89/GPS6.0. Very cold and squally conditions, tide was down but chop was still blowing up which made the bearaways challenging. Had a 39kt 2 sec on my watch so decided to try my CA47 which promptly killed the wind, I could never line up a good run after that. I think Mandurah would have been a better option today. Any sail is good sail though, good to be out with Lachy, Slugger and Dave and Steve from Busso

Starboard sonic 85l 4.2 tushingham rock. during the start, I am just cruising but when the first big squall came through I was a little anxious of trying to go for it but in the end, I ended up going for it that was when I got my high of 25 knots. I thought I went a lot faster and there might be a bit of interference with the GPS but it is doing the job. overall a nice day with the mob.

Woohoo, Windy! There was some fun to be had, and some bits that were less fun. It was cold, and even with the wetsuit and everything, at the end, waiting for the last gust to get me home I was properly cold. There were also weedbergs! Stroppo says, "just sail over them". I was revising Fangys Weedberg Theorem, which for the late comers and those who haven't been paying attention states, if I remember correctly "If you see a seagull standing on a berg, you might be able to sail through/over it (I guess with the right fin ;-)) but if you see a pelican standing on the berg you have no chance."
I kept trying to think how this helped me as there were a fair few seagulls strutting all over the bergs despite the gale. I tried to keep clear but the one or two that I did clip at speed gave me a few 'clenchy' moments I have to admit but didn't completely pitch me over the front. The best I could do was a corollory based on a few pelicans I saw sheltering in the lee of one of the bigger bergs. "If it is deep enough for a pelican to swim in the lee of a weedberg then it is probably deep enough for my fin there".
In between the cold, weedbergs and super gusts I had quite a lot of fun, until I was too cold to carry on and the wind stopped.
Jonski said I should put in a naughty, because he already had a decent one in the bag, but I think he was just planning on getting me out of the way for his 'lucky gust'! Just kidding. Well done mate I know it was hard earned.
I also met Jake for the first time today. It was a big day and I was very impressed it wasn't easy out there and to get a nice jump in your numbers as well. Good going.
Now for a warm meal.

Firstly a huge thank you to Stroppo for lending me a sail and mast after I broke my second in 2 days and also for all the speedsailing advice it really is appreciated. Sail was excellent and I will keep them in mind for the next upgrade.
Big day on the water with a great bunch and near perfect winter conditions. Lined up a huge gust for the PB with the biggest wind hitting me as I reached the flattest section.
Ran out of wind at the end of the day so had a bit of a walk but all round a great sail.
