Wow that's was abit more than forecast - 42knt gust recorded at 3pm. Didn't bring the small gear and paid the price. Very shallow everywhere.

1137 days ago 1 categories Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. Arrived earlish with Decrepit and Peter and had a very nice couple of hrs with the 7.8. Wind had a lot of north in it so runs were fairly short. Was joined by BSN010 and Waricle and unknown. Then wind streghtened a lot so came in and rigged 5.8. Stayed on the big board in an attempt to keep the fin from dragging. Reg, Woody and Antman, stretch arrived and wind dropped but just managed to keep planning. For some reason was really struggling with the gybes with this 'new' sail and with the tide so low once stopped had to walk out to get started again. Then wind booted in near westerly so got a few nice long runs in, then wind picked well up and started to become too much for me. At this time sail started disintegrating all by iteself so the combo of too much wind and sail falling apart meant I pulled the pin. Fellow team members just got going so acted as camera man for a while until got too cold. Need to get a smaller sail to handle winds like these..conditions were very good though. 120 Tabou rocket, 7.8 Severne Overdrive M2 then KA5.8. Will post some picks/video soon...there maybe some surprises coming in following posts..

1137 days ago Very windy at Australind with Ant and Flex and Woody and also Stretch, Waricle and Decrepit from Mandurah....positively crowded! A bit disappointed with my NM. I stopped too early! I was sat on a consistent 31 knots for 1.7km and then decided I had gone far enough so gybed and stopped to adjust my sail...bugger! Ant and Woody seemed to be going well....

An unexpected epic day. Rigged the Evo 5.8 in 15kts hoping for the 25kt forecast and used the 56 Falcon. Wind came in as we rigged and saw a 40.5 peak on the first run so went back for the JP50 speed. Seemed to work until a spinout on the run. Went back in to get the 18 fin to replace the 16 for a bit more grip. Stretch was rigging and thought the 16 was right so went back out to some nice gusts and kms of flat. One massive gust in particular took 4 attempts to get going. Difficult when 40+ in 15-20cm of water. video shows my stuff ups but was lucky the gust lasted a few minutes. Top day with Ant and thanks for the lift down mate, Reg, Flex, Stretch, Waricle, Decrepit, Dave the local.
