Pointman (25655km): Fun sesh at the Beaver that did a lot to restore the mojo after a disappointing LOC Got down there early cos I had to back home by 3 for child-minding duties. Sammy and Tomski were tearing down the bar and it looked really good. Rigged the Mistral 95 + 6.6 TR7 + 23 KA assy and hit the water around noon. First speed run threw up a 37.7K peak and 36.25 10 sec, so I thought I might be in for something special. Second run I had a 39.3 on the dial and 37.6 10 sec, but after the first few runs it started to back off. My 5x includes a 34 and a 32 which destroyed the average Still a fun half hour or so and my best speeds so far on the 95. The 23 fin was a marginal proposition, a little skatey downwind and not great upwind, so I'll pick something a little larger next time. Changed boards and plugged in the 90 XFire + 27 Vector speed weed for some alphas and a crack at the naughty. The 27 works well in the 90, felt very slippery, but never let go. It was on the edge for alphas, so probably need to use something bigger to crank across the breeze, but it was sweet on the naughty run. GPSAR gave me a 23.7K alpha, so disappointed that KA72 ignored it and only picked up my next fastest, but I'll run with the KA72 result for consistency. Happy with the mile, which is a PB for Safety Bay. All in all a really fun little sesh.
Ricey (11089km): Safety Bay, WA, AU Plenty of wind. 80 RRD Xfire, 5.8 Koncept, 26 speedweed. Went to try my rarely used speed board and could not get the zips to open on the bag! Not even with lubricant and plyers. Moral of the storey: get it out more often. (Once I work out how to get it out of a perfectly good board bag without cutting it open) Windxtacy was going great guns on a new 70l Lockwood speed board. Thanks for taking the photos beforehand. I tried to paste on in here but it would not go. Will have too work out how to do that. Slowboat was 'only' doing 38/39 knots when I saw him. I followed one of his runs (at least his wake) but ended with spinnout and 30+knot sideways slide. Scarrgo was just heading out as the wind really got blowing. Tomski was also going very well after changing from one Lockwood board to another.

Windxtasy (13970km): Safety Bay, WA, AU Mistral 73L speed, 5.7K. 4.9K, 24 Elmo weedy An awesome session at Safety Bay. Wind was about 20 knots when we arrived and built to 25-30 during the afternoon. This board was love on the first run. It felt like I'd been on it all my life, but I'd never been so fast. As soon as the front foot goes in the footstrap it just gets up and takes off and flies over the chop as if it wasn't there. No need to worry about the board, it sails itself. I only had to worry about the sail. First cautious test down the speed run scored a 29.2 without even trying. After that the 30's and later 31's were just the norm. 30 is so passe now! Came in when the 5.7 got too much to handle, but realising that a 30 knot 5X10 was quite achievable went out again with more downhaul but even that was too much. By then I was tired and would normally have called it a day with a PB of 31.7 but that 5X was still beckoning so I rigged smaller and went out again. Improved further on my 2 sec with a display of 32.4! Beyond my wildest dreams! A couple more runs to nail the 30+ 5X10 and then even the 4.9 became too much. I had considered rigging the 4.0, and it would have been great toward the end when it was the Mistral Club out at the start of the speed run - Slowboat, Tomski, Scarrgo and me. Plenty more improvement possible with this board! Just wish I'd sailed in the morning when the run was flatter. STOKED! (and I've hijacked the board)
scarrgo (8964km): Safety Bay, WA, AU finished work at 4:30 straight down to the beaver found good crew there and a bit of wind got out some of my new kit and got on the water asap got an underpowered 33 on the first run without even trying so i had a good idea it was a pb day the conditions just got better and better the wind kicked late and the tide was dropping the whole time so my last 2 runs of the day were just heaven had 37.01 on the dial twice but 36 2 sec will do me for today will go after the 40 another day now that i've cracked the 35 the 5x10 gives a good idea of how well things were going all up very happy nothing more to say other than the gear was sweet and congrats to anita on her great day on the water too 5.6 reflex 4, 44 clockwood speed, 24 scarrgo speed weed

Snake (23888km): Quick blast at Peli Point between work and a mates birthday dinner. Devo that I had to cut the session short as it was cranking. Maxed out half of the time on 5.7 and it felt great!! Smashed my Peli PB with a 37.45 on the dial out off of the point!! Stoked!! Fantastic work Anita , you smashed your old PB!!!! Iso81/Ram5.7/Goldwing30
lao shi (41082km): Arrived at Decrepit's place and was very unimpressed with the swell which had disappeared and nobody out. Chatted for a while and Pepe arrived then Elmo. Elmo was up for a wave sesh but was also unimpressed.... so there went the New Year's resolution. Joined the guys on the estuary for some fun on sweetly flat water as Hardie's was rough as guts. Awesome to have a spot to yourselves and thanks to Yoyo and the Mobbers for sharing. Just needed more wind. Left about 2.30 to do the other part of the mission, a Hardie's naughty. Good to catch up with a few more Mobbers down there. Chickened out on the inside line as I was not sure if the tide was high enough and did 4 miles on the outside through the nasty stuff with 32s and one 33.76 peak but frustratingly 26/27 min speeds. The wind really booted in at this point but with 100+ Km up I was done. Well done to all the SBay PB crew. LB6.3,iso 90/27 weed,Lurch/KA23
