Well that was worth the drive! 35 knots and and 20 knot alpha was my hope with the current gear for 2017. Met a lot of excellent people. I won't post my track because I spent a lot of time resting ... er ... I mean adjusting my gear, and then walked back to the car rather than tack back.

The 28 weedy was picking up pleny of weed.

All in all an awesome day, except that I left the GPS on in the car (again) and lost my tops speeds.

Started a bit dusty after a week of night shift and nursing a dodgy right hand. The kinetic fin would go upwind fine but just wouldn't hold on when going off the wind. Instead of using my kinky aluminium boom I used a carbon boom that was too big for the sail so didn't feel quite right. Also had to swap fins and after about an hour on the water things started to fall into place. Plenty of dolfins on the river and some stingrays at point walter. Got a lucky gust at point walter to hit 36. Would love a few more days like today without the nightshift hangover.

Good to see Tim and Mark out on the water today.

Foilville

was just a bit interested in how much wind I could actually sail the foil in and worked out pretty quick that today was pretty well absolute max

rigged as small as I have and got on the water, it was all just managable but very scary and very out of control at times if I let it go as fast as it wanted too in the chop

I ended up spending most of the sesh hiding in matilda bay where the conditions were a little more tame, but still had some major crashes today, the gear survived but hurt my back in one and my ankle in another

didn't have the control or bravery to put the foot down in the middle of the river where the more consistent wind was so very peaky speeds today grabbing the gusts but was loving how easy it is to foil jibe with the small sail

Coodanup, WA, AU What an amazing session in the land of green smoothness. I tried to use the 27 tribal but there was no way. Lunkily Morts lent me a delta and once I sailed over the first weedbank unhindered the smile grew and stayed there all day. As good as it gets for me, like a kid in a candy store. So stoked. CoolCoolCool (three thug life faces) Ross gave me some good tips to get me going and Stroppo and Morts generally made me real welcome down their way, big cheers.

Fun day at Liptons, the boys Lunny and Snake were still on the water when I left as the wind was picking up. Lots of Pinnas down at Liptons and the usual suspects chasing the speed Stretch, Elmo and Slowy. Some fun runs but Pt Grey was short in the runs due to the weed island. Seems there was a bit more wind down at Liptons but decided to play it safe and stay at the point. Top day

Liptons with a whole bunch of the team and lots out enjoying it. Needed more wind, the usual story, but had a ball just blasting around trying to hunt the gusts. Realised towards the end of the second session that I hadn't consciously done any alphas so went and did one up near point grey. Happy with the result. Another great day on the water. Cool

Liptons, CA Speed, KA 5.5 race.

First time back on the flat for a while, great to say hi to so many people.

Was a bit underdone most of the time, ok in the gusts but early on had a few long waits for water starts. struggled to get back up  wind at times. Then once the wind was better I was "tin fruited" as mineral would say.

The burst of acceleration as you come out of the weed berg was great, over at Pt Grey the little corrugations were amazing, listening to the noise of slowy as he turned around my as I was resting was something else.

Plenty out having a ball in some Liptons classic conditions.

It was such a nice steady breeze i had a hard time calling it quits.

Another great day with a great bunch!

The lower carpark today was the hangout of team captains and ex-captains (and a few others). I launched with Hardie and Decrepit. Thanks Hardie for sharing your local knowledge. I always find your advice helpful and once again it did the trick!

My aim today was a 33+ 2 sec and a 5X better than 32. I haven't done much speed sailing this year but I knew those targets were achievable. I wasn't expecting a 2 sec close to 35 and a 5X better than 33, and I certainly wasn't expecting any PBs, so suffice to say I am very happy with my results!

My first run showed a 32.5 10 sec, so I thought the 5X target could be doable! Next run the 10 sec was 33+. Only three more runs like that required. Then I had a chat to Jeff who said his best speed so far was 32. I showed him where I had been going and followed him on the next run which brought a peak of 35.04 on the dial and a 34.56 10 sec. That was pretty exciting because I have only gone over 35 once before and I certainly wasn't expecting to do it again today. The 34.56 pretty much guaranteed me a 5X PB if I could put in a couple more good runs, which doesn't sound like much, but it was hard work! I needed to start in the shallows to get up enough speed before it got too choppy, then the bear aways into ever increasing chop were pretty scary. A couple of times I pulled out before the ten seconds were up because it was too scary. The fin picked up a fair bit of weed in the shallows so I had to abandon quite a few runs. I tried the kestral but there was too big a gap for catching weed, so I abandoned that idea. The chop was increasing and so was the wind. My legs were on the verge of cramping and I was overpowered, so even though I wanted to try for a 2 sec PB ( I was 0.03 of a knot short) I thought I'd better call it a day.

It was great to see such a big turnout of Pinnaroos and other teams. Definitely a top 10 Liptons day!

Peel Inlet, WA, AU

A fantastic day at Liptons. Heard about the weed situation earlier this week but didnt expect the massive islands of weed in the corner and near pt grey. Didnt have a decent delta so went with the tribal weedy which was OK when avoiding the weedbergs. Others were happily going straight through the weed with their raked back fins. Tried a few runs in the corner and over at point grey with the best speeds close to pt grey.

Wind was very strong when I first went out around 3:30 but dropped off soon after. Only getting 34s on the dial until the wind picked up again around 5:30. Decided to go for a few alphas and was happy to see 23. Went for a few more runs fluked a 37 on a nice bullet and was hoping I might had just beat my PB by a fraction. By this time Jake must have noticed the wind picking up so decided to join Lunny and myself late in the day. Was only getting 34s and 35s by this time so called it a day. Good to see so many PBs from others. Cool

WoW! Look at all those PBs! Congratulations, guys! I knew Jase and Rob would easily score some at Mandurah, but Woody, those are really good speeds for Melville. Well done!

Jase, 4 PBs are really good but that nm is really special (I am glad someone followed instructions and went for one). I am pleased to see you giving my Sonic a go. Clearly you got it working. I am expecting big things from you. Your numbers show a lot of potential.

Rob, I am delighted that you reaped the rewards of a road trip to Mandurah, and obviously enjoyed yourself. You were looking a bit lost for a while there.

Great sessions guys, congrats to all the PBers,

Remery, there's no reason to loose numbers because you left the GPS on in the car. You just need to crop out the car ride.

Pity about the Kestrel Anita, it was much smoother where we were, and seems like it was windier where hardie was.

Ckrikey such a big turn out of PB from the Pinna's. (Of course not one needs to mention they have a pretty low base) The King of Fangykland is well pleased with meeting the Pinna peasant Jase, he seems unresonable decent given his team heritage. A solid cache of great personal performance from young Jase were brought before my attention this evening, and I was pleased. We will kit him up with a FF20 next time he crosses the border to ensure he suffers eternal fin inadequacy if he fails to buy one.

I should pay respect to Windxtasy on a fine collection of PB's, but with Boz having laid waste to my golfing greens, I feel anything over than a nod in her general direction would seem excessive.

Sooper team turnout and numbers, Pinnaroos! For once I think we may have outnumbered the Mandurah Mobbers.

Great to see our scores improved in 4 categories today.

Snake and Lunny, lovely sets of figures for both of you. Thanks for putting in 100% as always. Sorry the 40s just wouldn't come for you.

Lunny - an awesome nautical mile to back up Jase's effort, and a lovely alpha to back up Jake's superb corner. Lunny, another 150 km - that is at least the third time this month you have done 150 km. I was waiting around for you but you just didn't look like you were going to come in until you ran out of wind or daylight.

Jake - I am very pleased that you remembered an alpha, and what an alpha it was - a second best for you, only 0.028 short of a PB! Well done!

Kenny - 2 PBs! Whoo Hoo and well done!
