A great session at Peli point. Took a look at Pt Walter but too gusty and broad with a few kiters. Back to Peli with some nice runs along the shallows. Just too many people in that area because of the direction so lots of wake chop. Would be good with that wind direction and no one out...except me of course. Wink

Fun little sesh after work, water was flatter than I thought it would have been. Very south wind at Peli. few ramps towards Jojos and great gybing flat water towards the point. Always takes me a while to get used to the stance and style going from race to wave boards/sails.

The Pinvasion of Manbra mob's turf. Big Pinnas turnout, at least 8 of us down there I think, and nice to meet a few I hadn't met yet.

Hour was the mission today, so I didn't bother going for anything else. By the time I was done, well, I was well and truly spent, so any speeds or mile attempts would have been in vain anyway. Tide and wind were both only just playing balltoday , and I was powered up maybe 60% of the time with a few patches of so-so wind at different times throughout the 90mins or so.

First attempt was sitting around 25.4 or so at the half hour, when I misjudged the flats (badly) down near the channel markers and gybed into water about 20cm deep - huuuuuge over the handle bars and there goes that attempt. Nothing broken, thankfully. Oh well, wind had picked up a few knots since we hit the water, so back out for another crack at it. Weedburgs made it tough going, had to jump it off a few times, and plenty of spin outs on both tacks. Was lucky to stay upright to be honest. Got there only just as the breeze was backing off. Timing could not have been better. 1 more minute and I'd have been stuck down in the corner without wind and with no chance to get back out at any real speed.

But, made it. I knew it was gonna be a PB when I saw the hour finally pass and read the numbers on the screen 26.28. Yeeeeeeeeeeharrrrr. That one's been a loooooooong time coming, must be 5 years or more. Glad to have the monkey off my back finally!! To do it again on the Sonic with the FO28 made it that much sweeter. Oh baby.

Great end to a big weekend of sailing. Lots of stoke out there today, and great to catch up with everyone! Cool Laughing

Wow that was bloody nice! A few laughs (mainly at Tim but he fed it back nicely) nice comfy breeze and flat until the wind swung SE.

Plenty of Pinnas invading the Fangy weedlands

Great to meet Peter and Nina from United speedsailors of America who seemed to enjoy the flat stuff. Long way to come and hope it was worth it.

Really stoked with the fine tuning that Neil has done with the Windtech SB 57, she has the extra squirt at the top end and really comfy.Smile

Nice one Neil!

Pinna Fest great to see so many turn out for an invasion of Fangy's backyard. 18 Delta XT all day nice fin but can't really load it up too much in the chop so the hour is a bit of a surprise, might have to try for an hour with a proper fin to see what the manta can do, Great to see so many Pinnas even visitors fron the States, the usual MM well only Mike with a few late comers in Oaf and Jonski, Fangy doesn't count as he did not sailLaughing, All in a super day

Fangy's Landing has been taken! Free entry for the remainder of the season. Not as epic as was hoping but still great to get out on the smooth. It was definately a top ten day with a great turn out. Nice to meet the American invasion (Peter and Nina) who looked like there were in sailing heaven.

Arrived for tor the afternoon shift of the Fangland Pinnavasion.

Rigged a 6.2 Reflex which I have not used in over a year and coudnt find the sweet spot for my harness lines.

Surprised with the NM as that was sailing upwind into the chop so really unexpected

More pesky pinnas than you can poke a stick at! Got down a bit late after contemplating whether to make the trip or not. Wind looked about 6.2 weather but I rigged the 5m optimistically as usual. Got to compare a cut down 23 vector weedy and a normal 23 vector. Similar in speed but the modified 23 got the NM. Neither fins spun out even in the bigger chop. Cheers lunny for loaning the fin.

Good to see the Mandurah mobbers out there. Its been a while and hopefully can make it down a few more times this summer. Nice warm weather to catch up with the team afterwards.

A top day with many Pinnas enjoying the flat and good to meet Jake finally. An awsome experience reaching through the weed openings and a comfortable sail finally with a happy shoulder enabling more time out on the water than normal. A really unique sailing experience at coods with Mike from MM and plenty of energetic pinnas. Manta 59 Vapor 6.4 ws 23

Pacey (704km):

Promising session at Coodanup, cut short by nasty spinout and fall avoiding collision with Mike from MM. My fault for not keeping a good lookout to leeward before doing a big bearaway. Definitely learned a lesson today.

A fair bit of south east in the breeze so mostly beam reaching each way with not a lot of oportunity for high-speed bearaways. But awesome fun nonetheless.

Pinvasion was a success, lots of Pinnas and surprisiongly few MM. Tragic to see Fangy arrive after driving back from Lancelin, just as everyone was leaving the water.

Windtech 57, Koncept 6.2, Lockwood Delta 16. Setup felt great, getting past the point of being scared to pull on lots of downhaul.

Horrible, super gusty, variable wind direction, spent a long time trying to water start in a big lull, too shallow over the bar, so I gave up.

Congratulations on a PB hour Snake, and a second best hour for Lunny! Super backup! That is a great hour average. Probably our best ever.

A lovely pair of alphas also.

Well done on the nm Lunny, a top 3 nm for you and sooo close to a 34!

Boz! A huge distance, just a smidge off your PB. Didn't have another nautical mile in you? A super hour also, over a knot better than your previous best. Great backup in the 2 sec, 5X and nm also. Sensational!

Windtech, congratulations on another PB. Keep them coming!

Many more scores to come but already the team has improved in all 6 categories, and had a BIG boost up the ladder. Great sailing everyone! You have done me proud. I wish I could have joined you.

Great PBs guys!! Awesome stuff!! Probably would have cracked the 23 hour if you'd done up that flap on your sail, Tim. Just saying..Wink Boz showing how it's done for a ripper delta hour, too! Great Peli speeds, Neil Cool

I hope you're ok Pacey, and collision or near collision can be a scary thing. Glad no one was seriously hurt.

Gate??? What Gate? Was I meant to mind it??

And, if the German Americans hadn't arrived, without the Pinnas I'd have been sailing by myself!

More seriously Andrew, that was great reflexes bailing out so quickly, all I saw was a nose of a board centimeters away and heard a yell of fright/pain?

I hope it improves quickly!

Hi Mike, it wasn’t a bailout, when I saw you through my sail getting closer at an alarming rate, I luffed as hard as I could, but overpowered the short fin (16 cm), resulting in a violent spinout and crash. Once my body hit the water, I think the fin or the rail caught, compressing me towards the board at high speed, a bit like a 30 knot squat, and the knee of my forward leg took most of the load. There was probably some exclamations of pain at this point, possibly followed by some expletives, but to be fair at this point I thought I had done some serious damage. It seems to be pretty reasonable now, may be off the water for a week, but hoping it’s not any longer.

Well done for all the PB's.

Looks like Coods was the place to be. I decided to spend the travel time on the water instead of the car so headed to Melville instead of Coods. After seeing how offshore the wind was, rain showing further south on the radar and the clouds bearing in I decided to stay dry.

Boz, Are you quitting smoking again? Huge distance and fantastic hours Jake and Lunny.

Grudging respect for all the PB's fellas. Some damn fine numbers but bloody poor form to do so well when I wasn't there, and then sod off without paying your parking fees.

Pacey, hope to hear your knee will be fine after a complete reconstruction that will keep you off the water for the entire season. The rest of you have been warned! We will use our SCUD ( Secretly Confused Unguided Decrepit) missile to take you out should get cocky enough again to try and play when the boss is away......
