Ray Thorne (6975km): the sand bar poped its head out just in time for a quick session before the wind swung sw
Anthony Perkins (22612km): once again we were on the road with, izaak, dave, bear and johno.on our way to henty river mouth. dave izaak and i went down friday night, bear and johno came down for today. Forecast was looking great and best we have had for Henty. Sand had moved a little bit, and was light at first but we still rigged small;as the day went on. Hail storms came though and we crept our speeds up. I carried a 5.8 today with weight vest, It worked well, really stoked to get pbs. What an awesome place. on north warp 5.8 (08) with f2 missile xs

Izaak Perkins (22741km): yeess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.at henty river for the first time what a sic spot to sail. i love it threre on a bit more to the west direction it will be even better,im pumped and i know when i get a carbon art speed board it will BE ON !. watch out gear fanatic falcon 79/f2 missile xs and north warp 5.0 ! this was taken just before the wind came in around 20 kts in that pic

Johno (4871km): Well first trip to the Henty river mouth what a wild place Bear and I arrived later than Dave, Perks and Izaak only to find they (the 2 Drivers) had suffered a serious bout of softcockalitus and walked all their gear about 600 m up and down sandy tracks to the rig up area. Bear, driving the trusty Mitsubishi Delica drove us all the way in through knee deep soft sand up and down the dunes to 5 metres from the river. The look on the other guys faces was priceless. Strong wind, hailstones and rain. Must be the first time I have walked the 250 m part of an alpha and .5 of a nm Great day with pbs again still on the Stb 126 S type 5.8 Koncept Venom 34
Dave Morehead (29590km): Fantastic day sailing at Henty with Perks, Izaak, Johno and Bear. The sandbar is longer than last time, which is great. Hopefully it'll keep getting longer!! Learnt quite a bit about the spot today with the wind finally swinging more west at the ends of the session. Actually seems like the short length of sandbar we've been sailing on in a NW'ly is probably the best bit. A full SSW might be better, but just so rare to get with any strength. Felt the run was still a little broad (too much N in the NW), but super smooth. Well done Perks on the 41.56, that is awesome (ya beat me). And Izaak, nearly got to the 35 mark - brilliant effor today. Bet you can't wait to get back there. Still need more wind (or a bigger sail). Never felt fully powered going down the run, but so flat and in control. Got one run in after a rain squall went through and it was unbelievably flat (top 2 sec run) and just wished there'd been a little more wind. Also found a shortcut driving back to Hobart that cut 20 min off the 4.5 hr trip (via Laughing Jack Lagoon) - about 20 minutes of dirt road, but cuts out a heap of winding bitumen. Well done Johno for your PB, and I think Bear will have one too!!
Bear (9236km): Just under 5 hour drive up and 5 hour drive back, to sail 4.6 km.and a third of that was walking back up the run so its lucky the sailing was good! First time on perky's old missile. Once I get the hang of it I'l givem a run for their money.Well Done Perky fantastic PB. |
