Adrian Vos (3785km): Kyeemagh, NSW, AU KA72 Link: http://www.ka72.com/TrackRecalc.aspx?fid=11383 Mixed day for me. I got there at around 1:30 and rigged up the 6.2 Hellcat, JP FSW, and Select 32 fin. Des was out there on a 7.8!! I was a bit underpowered at first, and then it picked up and it took me a while to get my gear tuned in, but then when I did, it was going great. The conditions were not perfect, being a bit gusty, but I snagged a couple of good gusts down the runway. I felt pretty comfortable on these runs, so could have used more wind, but not complaining about the results. Anyway, the cloud came through, and the wind was getting a bit flukey, so went back downwind, and was reaching there (was nice and the water had gotten less choppy). Anyway, I am cruising, and not really concentrating, and a chop knocks my front foot out of the strap, which falls into the water and I had a bad catapult. I have not had a catapult like that in years. I went with it to avoid board damage, but unfortuantely I damaged the sail badly!! Panel above the boom is ripped in two. Leach completely seperated. Only about 6 inches of luff pocket holding the top of the sail to the bottom. I hope I can get it repaired, as it has done some damage to multiple panels. Lucky I got a tow from a boat in, and that cut my sailing short unfortunately!! Before the sail damage, it was a great sail. Now I am just hoping I can get it fixed quickly (as I use it 90% of the time), and cheaply!! :( Cheers, Adrian

Could not really get going well. Underpowered most of the time and the wind was gusty. By gusty I mean wind up and down about 20 knots every 20 seconds. So its hard to get settled. I got out as the clouds came over and the wind seemed to drop. Oh well it was good to get out at all. Good post session ambience at the carpark but I was in a rush to get home.
Well done on the PBs Adrian! Bad luck about the catapult and damage done. Thats part of windsurfing. You would be amazed at what a good sailmaker can repair. I think I have the business card of one I met on the Central Coast. He seemed pretty good and enthusiastic. He is a windsurfer and kiter. I have not had any work needed so I can't say for sure what his work is like.

Waiting4wind (683km): Kyeemagh, NSW, AU It was a bit of an all over the place wind today. Started on a 7,8m and 115 Slalom board. The wind seemed to be building so I rigged down to a 6.2 and 90L slalom and then ofcourse it dropped off and became very gusty, should have left the 7.8 rigged! My higher speeds were on the big gear as i did a lot of slogging on the smaller stuff. Cant complain it was great day of sailing overall. First time I used KA72 site, pretty cool and makes it all easy, like it! |
