Pepe47 (12846km): 7.5m koncept, 125 rocket, 30cm sww. Nice early morning sail with Stroppo, consistent easterly and topped off with a visit by the local dolphins. Pleasure to be out in such fine company.
Decrepit (54652km): Fantastic fun at what I'm calling Lilacs, after our great accommodation in Albany, right at the launch spot. Used the 43 with the 5.0 and started with the small 17cm weedy but changed up to the 19 woody weedy, this worked better with the 5.0.
Nice to get speed PBs in WA, think this place is WAs answer to Lake George, probably won't get wind as often. The weed is coarser and a bit more abrasive. But a lot less mud!
evets (21500km): Albany, WA, AU JP45sp, RSSII 5.4 Pepe speed weed 23 exhausted, there was more out there I could just not connect to the gusts. Well done to several others as you will see! Update: Mandurah mob 6 pbs..... fantastic. Mike your speeds are brilliant and show large sails are not essential for high speeds. Elmo your 2 and 5X are excellent and as for the alpha, now I have got to find another .025kt. Actually that is possible: did I mention I get flat water at my local? Mike looked so smooth on the run and kept going and going. Elmo was bouncing with joy with the speeds and thought he had a good alpha... pretty good mate! Hardie just loves the flat water and flew, isn't it great having a WA flat water spot closer than shark bay. To those who made the journey down I am really happy it paid off, the water is generally really flat and there is often wind but not often as windy as yesteray. Now you can see why my 45 and 54 speed boards have had a workout here. It was great to have company on the water and give me others to measure my speeds against: sounds stupid but I really wanted more than 38.6 out there, 38.6 is 71.5 kmh so I know I should be happy but there was more out there. I carried on after all had seen the sense in stopping and managed another 37 which dissapointed me.... losing view of reality I suspect! Several launch places possible PM me for info! Same goes for forecasts, often this year I have sailed 45/5.4 and 54/6.2 when the forecast has been 12 or 14 kts. it will be good to see this spot used. If you look at my posts this year it has been rare for me to sail when Perth is working as the wind here seems to blow when Perth is still. Great reason to enjoy the delights of the Albany Highway (just don't speed folks, it is rare I do not see more than 1 police car on my weekly journey from here to Boddington). For those who love them here is the GE image! I like them anyway ços you can see where to sail.
Elmo (31521km): Tabou Thunder 70cm & 31cm JP Weed, Tabou Manta 54cm & Elmo Δ Weed 25cm, 7.0m RSR Eiii. The forecast was good, the leave pass was granted, the bitch bus was fueled and loaded up, left home at 6am this morning collected the Yoyoman for DIDO Day attack on Evets Playground of Albanakystan after hearing all the "Bullshit" about how flat it was Nice little drive down to the harbour pulled in and Holy Sheet they weren't lieing, bizare flat water and wind, who would have thunk it in WA Thought I'd have a play with the Thunder first to see what I could do with it, and sure enough it was a whole lotta fun started out with a 35 and just kept gettig better although it did take a bit of tweaking trying to figure out best setting for flat water Super stoked to get a new PB for the Thunder of 38.58 (Realspeed 2 sec) Went in for lunch (couple of Bananas) at around 1.30 and decided to give the 54 a go, straight up instant results with the speeds picking up, was quite surprised to find only myself out on the water at one stage as most people were in hiding for lunch, got a 39 then started picking up 40's on the dial was feeling pretty smug till Daryl rocked over and told me his numbers and then pointed out JJ had scored a mid 41 More tweaking more good runs, started realising that there was some PB's up for offer, went chasing my 5x then got a 40.93 on the dial PB 2 sec baby yeeeeeehhhhhhhaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh. Even more surprising although the sail was a bit largish I'd managed to pull of a few sweet gybes which I was hoping and praying for some more PB goodness (Smug mode engaged)yeeeeeehhhhhhhaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh At the end of the session I was done, a couple of hard hits fluffing gybes, wrestling the sail had taken it's toll, I was feeling as old as Hardie Huge thanks to Evets and the Albany crew for their hospitality at this fantastic spot. Great fun Sailing with Evets Hardz Decrep Yoyo Daryl and JJ Congrats to all who scored some well earned PB's
