Boundary Island, Peel Estuary, WA, AU

Hung around with Decrepit and YoYo for hours, pretty much deciding it was too gusty to bother with. But Lao eventually came back in an announced he had a 39. So backup was the go.

It was so gusty and quite a long upwind sail so I thought the Isonic made the most sense.

Only got one decent gust, the peak of 36.17 (on the dial) immediately before a crash and long back slide - explains the massive RealSpeed.

Minutes later in full view Lao performed a perfect catapult at 37 knots Surprised

In the end it was nice to get out. Pretty cool sailing in a bird sanctuary.

Got to the estuary to find Hardie rigging a 5.5 and the guys taking an anemometer reading of 3 knots!Surprised

Was tempted to rig the 6.3 and take the 90 but got sucked in by the forecast and rigged the 5.6 and Lurch. Set the mast base further back (as far as poss) which did seem to help free up the MXR weedy.

Followed Hardie on an expedition to get to the flat spots with very patchy wind. Some great spots for gybing and managed to be planing for a fair bit of time before it glassed off. Fair bit of sunshine and plenty of rainbows with the wind coming and going.

At this point Hardie had a 36.5 to my 35.

One brief patch of maybe 10 mins where the wind swung allowing the south bank to come in to play followed Hardie in but didn't get right in to the flatest water. Happy with a 39.12 on the dial and a 35.92 10 sec. Definitely has potential. Another glass off followed and we tried to gust hunt without too much success.

Hardie went in and I decided to wait for one more dark patch of cloud. Plenty of wind but too broad to use the bank.

Finally dragged JJ out by guilting him in to providing back up but took the 6.3,90 combo. Some nice squirts including my 2nd best 10sec for the day and a 37.3 display over the chop ending in spin out and an impressive dismount.

Thanks to Hardie for the intro to the spot and all up an enjoyable day out.

Melville Beach, WA, AU - bit of a putt around on the 5.8 and sonic 95, pleasantly surprised at getting over 30 - first for a while. display was showing 27 when I was packing up. Embarassed compared to other speeds. Like Tuesday I stopped once I got wet above the waste, dont like that cold water much, dont want to undo the good work the neurophen is doing.

Jonah, bodydragged back to car park. Laughing even if it was tough going, still funny.

Full credit to you and Mark being out there today. Cool

We'll have to do that again, next time with the wind either due west with perhaps a touch of south, or NW with perhaps a bit more North.
