Hardie (35820km): Used up all my energy by time wind filled in, just went for alphas, best conditions at end, but too buggered to take advatage, Manta 54, Tr-7 6.3m, Decrepit 21cm 45 degree weed
fangy (22667km): Coodanup Foreshore Stoke 105 Ka Koncept6.6 MUFDelta 19cm. Bittersweet sort of day for me. I had my friend come done from Perth to share my spot. The wind didnt really behave and he could not get going at all and went home a very disappointed man; whereas I had a fun afternoon, a bit underpowered but happy with my set up - everything is nice and balanced now.Although Delta land was great fun as per usual I really would like to have a crack in some serious wind - I would be suprised if the gusts were any better than high teens today. But as Stroppo says ' Happy days' . Absolutely :-)

Elmo (31521km): Too Much gear to list. The plan today was to offer support and encouragement to Decrep, unfurtunately we all know what Huey thinks about our plans. Got down the the run early so as to rack up some KM's, unfortunately the wind diodn't play the game, 3 hours of non planing for under 20Nm. Thought I'd wear some clown shoes today so as to protect my poor little footsies, unfortunately the clown shoes did more damage to my feet than I possibly could have done walking through crushed glass. When the wind did come in I had a blast on the 8.6 and large thunder, first part was testing out a new fin which unfortunately was a bit small so got some major brain damage. changed to a larger fin and all was good. Eventually changed down to the 7m and 70cm thunder which was a whole lot of fun, a bit exciting on the first two runs over to claudevile as the mast foot was a poofteenth to far back which made the board rather excitable over the chop. The next trip was much nicher than chips. A great day out with Evets, Decrep and a whole stack of tourist blow ins from Perth. a great day out. Now where's that Voltaren??
Decrepit (54652km): Well totally buggered and nothing to show for it. Tried to lift my "legends" ranking, was going for 200kms and a 31.5NM, wind came in a bit too late, probablly could have got the distance there was enough time. But I just couldn't push my self hard enough. Started with the 7.0 on the 65 with the 31cm woody weedy. got 41kms on that going back and forth to the outside rockgarden sand bank, (had me worried I couldn't see the markers, thought somebody had removed them). Came in for lunch around 1300 changed to the 53 and 5.8 with new 28cm 45deg reshape. Sailed with Evets down wind to akpha land looking for flat water, didn't find much there, so sailed over the boundary island boat channel, not much flat water there, so kept going to south yunderup, inside yunderup island. plenty of flatywater there, went for about 1.5km very flat, then grounded fin on some rocks. Fortunately Evets was far enough behind for me to flag him down. We then had a 500m walk to get back to water deep enough to take off. worked our way upwind to boombars, I had 80kms up, and knew I couldn't do another 100, so we headed back to Novarra. I chnaged to keefs 17cm wide base and had a go at a NM down the inside, got my best speed on that, but spun out too much in the rougher water before you get to the rockgarden. Came back and chnged to my 17cm X 350cm 55deg, that was still spinning out a bit but not as bad, only had 28knts on the clock at the end of the NM, so called it quits.
Thanks to Evets and Alby for the company and back up, although I didn't achieve anything it was still fun. especially Claudsville. here's my tracks, ruler is 8.6km. Possibly could have sailed in Boombas, but didn't want another long walk episode. Would have been nice to have the 17cm super weedy over there, but getting there through the chop wouldn't have been fun.

evets (21500km): Hardies Wa. Tabou thunder 80/7.8RSREII JP54 SP 6.2 ( and briefly Iso 105/ 7.8) Target was 200 kms and keep Decrep company for his distance charge. Result was a fun sail with cirumnavidation of the Peel inlet. Great to see loads of sails on the water. At one point Snides charged past me.... and then he did it again on another board. I realised the first far quicker sailor was Cheryl. Claude was flying was I derigged, Congrats to Lao and Stringer on their distance PBs and Bender on his alpha pb. Really enjoyed the tour of Claudesville and Boombas with Mike, the run back was exciting as it was a fair bit off the wind for some of it. |
