Elmo (31700km): Tabou Thunder 70cm & JP weed 31cm, Tabou Manta 54cm & Elmo Δ weed 25cm, NP RSR Eiii 7.0m Proof that WA workers prefer going to work than sailing in weedy Nirvana. We'd been watching this forecast for a week and planing the quick day trip down to Albanakastan (Albany) forecast looked the goods with winds blowing all day in the low 20's. With my cunning disguise as a Nanna I collected Hardz and drove like one at a liesurely like nanna pace, at Mt Barker we got the text from Crasher saying his was In Albany already but with a dicky starter motor (oh dear not good) coming up to the Albany airport where the wind socks were looking a bit limp we got the text from Crasher that his face was face was hurting from smiling, oooooooooo time to start annoying people with phone calls time Dring through Albany was bizare as there was No tree movement all was calm, until we turned into Frenchmens bay Rd then we started twitchen, went past Lilacs abnd got our first glimpse of that loverly streaky water and the wind blowing 14-19. As the wind was steadily picking up I decided the 7 awas the go thought I'd go out on the Thunder to give it a tickle, Cheryl turned up with that lovely everpresent grin of her's. Crasher was already out and sailing the Eastern end of the sand bar in the "choppy area" so not knowing how deep it was down wehere we'd sailed before decided to go up there and have a play as well. The plan for today was to attempt Alpha's which are more more spectacular catagory as I eat shit a lot which provides a lot of people with a lot of ammusement and today was no different as I found that variety in shit eating was the spice of life a couple of mid gybe rehooks, a few where my front foot got stuck and more than a few where my corner speed was that high the the Geeeeee forces where that high that Red fur was seen flying accross tha water (sans gear) but ocasionaly the sun shines on a dogs arse and a few were completed succesfully to the dismay of all onlookers. Around 2 decided that some lunch was the go and perhaps a change of board so went in had a bite and after some more annoying phone calls I got out my "leetle friend" Unfortunately around the time I got back on the water the wind had faded somewhat and had a nightmare of a time getting of the shore as the board was sinking into the weed and choking the fin, eventualy got going and through desperation and extremely lazyness of not wanting to go through the hassle of more water starts I became "Gybe man" whose super skils are mucho grande many corners were made at speed many corners where made without the need for waterstarts not a huge amount of ground was made up wind but was I feeling pretty f'ken good about myself. Eventually got up the the far end tried a few of runs got a couple of runs where the only sound the board made was a Sssshhhhhhhh sound as it slipped over the glass (not even a wind ruffle) unfortunately the wind wasn't playing the game though as it was still fading and as I was the last out decided to start heading back and getting some more Elmo loving on some corners. Got what would have been my best gybe on the 54 on the way back only to have a stingray pop up in front of me on my return leg line. But all good things must end, went back to shore to see all the other happy campers and the smiles, it had been another awesome day, shame Evets couldn't have sailed as he had hurt his back whilst shifting a baby grand piano up two flights of stairs by himself, no doubt he will be banging out some Alpha's soon to rectify a certian unnamed situation which now exists. Super day on the water, going to have to give my fins a bit of love as the weed has attacked the leading edge of both. Definately doing more day trips down here, the 25 is still calling me 3 top 5 alpha's for me including 2x PB's Nm had 2 gybes. One very happy Muppet, a great day out with Cheryl (love that grin) Hardz and Crasher (who were also grinning) well worth the drive Woo hoo
